The ASIO protocol that Premiere and BM use to map audio channels is a function of your soundboards internal WDM miniport driver support(beleive it or not). In order for both (PPro and BM) to Fully implement Multi Channel Recording, Playback, Duplex etc. your motherboard internal AC97 device must fully support this protocol. Many do not. Buy an Audigy or some other card with robust support. Followed by Latest driver update followed by reinstall of BM, drivers and possibly Premiere then BM again might solve this. Whats not to understand about this. Most motherboard AC97 audio is afterthought glitz (even though realtek goes to great lengths to shake out driver issues). Buy something that fully has this wrapped. I know you think BM bypasses all of this, but they don’t. They coexist, and are using the same ASIO protocol everyone else designs by. Also if you do a soundcard update disable onboard device in BIOS and MB jumpers if possible. This can be another issue, as these cards can take more system resources than your motherboard can support given the additional requirements of Raid, LAN, and Capture card choices as well.

I dunno what is happening, but the correct way to delete assets would be to replace assets from within Encore. Don’t delete folders until your project is complete. Encore, Premiere and other apps will save settings info as temp within folders that you might think are not needed. It might be possible to restore from recycle bin and retreive, but is most likely another can of worms. Wish I had something better to offer. Maybe someone else has.

You can start a new project with Black Magic preference selected that you want(ex. 10 bit NTSC). Once you select that and assign name folder options etc. and premiere opens, you can import the project and insert at beginning of timeline. This will import the entire project you were having problems with allowing you to finish your edit. You will encounter some rendering, but it will allow you to finish. Hope that helps you get through.

Is it possible that maybe you have moved asset files from the project into a folder Encore does not recognize? such as a removable. I know Encore and other apps as well, have problems finding assets that are not exactly loaded according to original project settings. How are you changing assets?

Have you installed any new hardware, software etc? Has anything in system BIOS been changed?
I do not know what you have tried, but if it was once working fine,(and I am assuming reliably)I would try a simple removal of the BM card. Reboot, and let windows normalize then create a new project in PPro using default Adobe settings (like dv). Shut down reinsert card and allow drivers to reinitialize. Windows will find appropriate drivers by default. Premiere will create new initialization and preference settings, and might be happy again. Be careful when removing and inserting the board – unplug AC, use static precautions, allow enought time to allow power supply to completely discharge etc.

Why do you have your on board sound disabled? I may stand corrected here, but I think 5.1 is supported by decklink, but is partially a function of a 5.1 compatible soundcard.

Windows by default has some files hidden in explorer as protected files. You have to go in and manually change this under folder options. If you have done so already this would not be your problem. The fact that you are getting the vobulator error followed by .cpp extension leads me to believe this could be an issue. Maybe not. I just thought it might be worth a shot.

Ok since this seems to be repeatable for your projects when you change assets, check windows explorer file options under tools, file types, and make sure windows explorer is not hiding known file types. This will drive some applications nuts. Trust me this is not an Encore problem. Not to say there could not be something else, but give it a try.

One thing that is not clear, is that for each timeline you want to change, you need to click on the chapter 1 timeline pointer to highlight it. It needs to be highlight red before you can set a new poster frames. This drove me nuts.

I wonder if the problem may be a display problem. Are you running dual monitors? Premiere likes the video overlays on the primary monitor.
