Had a play with a Sony DCR-SR45 30GB – think that this is on the right track.

    Thanks for the help

I have another “work around” I wouldn’t call it a solution.

Open capture with your camera connected but not switched on. Turn your camera on so that it’s in filming mode – i.e. ready to shoot – and not vcr / playing mode that youwould normally have it in to capture.

The computer often detects the camera in this mode for some reason – once it’s deteced and you can see a preview in vegas capture of whatever you point the camera at – then switch it to VCR/play mode and hope for the best.

In my case this worked – and I know a few others have got around capture problems doing this also.

    Just found this:-

    https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/24/881312

Ouch + top audio and video channel only.

Anyone got this as a simple free download script? I’m so unfamiliar with scripting I’m not 100% that I know what to do with this.

    Thanks

    Thanks for the advice.

The evil web designer has given me the frame size to use as you worked out.

Any thoughts on what frame size I could compress to that he will then enlarge to fit his (totally arbitrary I suspect) design? Am I better off doing it this way round than just rendering to his spec?

    Thanks

    Found the Alpha channel.

And all the other – clicking helps, and a couple of glasses of wine and less dealine stress helps more.

    Thanks

I just spotted my own deliberate mistake – 2 channels of stereo.

Anyway, if there is anything other than panning to be recomended – I’m all ears.

    Thanks

Walter has it right (as usual).

    Thanks Terry,

your answer has cured my worries – and solved a few more that would have cropped up – just needed to change the way I think about doing a normal process.

    Perfect.
