    Hello All,
All of a sudden I am having trouble with my Vegas video capture(vegas 7). If the computer has been on for a while and other tasks have been performed, when I go to capture video, Vegas does not see the camcorder. If I reboot the computer then everything seems to work just fine.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks
    Dave P.

It sounds as if it is a driver conflict. If you can find the process that is utilizing the driver and end it, you should be able to re establish the camcorder connection. It will be a process of elimination and may or may not work.

Go into task manager and close out all other programs and see if that remedies the situation. If it does not, go into the processes tab and start ending processes that are not tied to stability of windows and Vegas.

I have another “work around” I wouldn’t call it a solution.

Open capture with your camera connected but not switched on. Turn your camera on so that it’s in filming mode – i.e. ready to shoot – and not vcr / playing mode that youwould normally have it in to capture.

The computer often detects the camera in this mode for some reason – once it’s deteced and you can see a preview in vegas capture of whatever you point the camera at – then switch it to VCR/play mode and hope for the best.

In my case this worked – and I know a few others have got around capture problems doing this also.

I’ve had the same problem with Pro 8. I just turn off the camera, shutdown Vegas, and restart Vegas. I think once I had to restart my computer.

I’m not worried about it. Just make sure you save your work on external drives.

The problem was my Canopus ADVC110! I guess because it’s on the firewire circuit it was causing the conflict. Thanks for all the suggestions & help.

    Have a great weekend.

    Thanks
