Hi Ken; most probably they used the AE version of Sapphire (which works in FCP, though not as smoothly as the native FxPlug version of Sapphire).

  • Hi Paul; an expired trial of Sapphire will eventually render watermark over black. If you have a Sapphire license and this is still happening to you, please email support@genarts.com and include your contact info, and we’ll help you out. I tried to look up your license in our system using your name, but didn’t find anything.

  • Hi Phill; I don’t see the purple.png you posted. Also please post (or send) your shake script.

Hi Keith; I’d start with TimeSlice for that kind of thing.

  • Hi Alex. Rays normally add luminance (brightness) to the background; they have no opacity of their own. So if you add blue rays to a white background, you get… white. (It may be super-bright in the blue channel, but still white).

But, you can turn up the Affect Alpha parameter to make the rays partially opaque; then instead of adding they’ll composite over the background (depending on how much alpha you add). Hopefully that will give you the look you’re interested in.

  • Hi Gary; you should be able to remove Sapphire with the uninstaller. On Windows use Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs, on Mac go to /Applications/GenArtsSapphireAE and double-click Uninstall Sapphire.

That said, I have never heard of any video plug-in corrupting audio. The plug-ins don’t even have access to the audio tracks. Are you sure you don’t have some other corruption on your system? Your mention of “frames out of place” also sounds suspiciously like disk corruption; no version of Sapphire should do that.

and I’ll just say, “me too!” If you are experiencing a problem like this, please do not hesitate to let us know, either on this forum or via email to support@genarts.com and we will be more than happy to begin investigating it.

  • Hi Aleksander. I don’t think we got a log file from Robin; at least I don’t see anything in our tracking system, perhaps it was resolved by phone. You’re welcome to send us the log file as well (in fact I would encourage it, since it’s our best chance of helping you), or post any helpful info to the forum that would help us diagnose this problem (screen shots, particular comps or plug-ins that it’s happening with). Please let me know how we could best help with this.

  • Hi Jeff. As long as you have v2 (2.081, make sure you install the 64 bit version) or v3 (32 and 64 bits in the same installer) you should be OK. See https://www.genarts.com/support/sapphire/avid#ds. V1 will not work on a 64-bit OS, it’s too old.

  • Hi Jeff; Sapphire should just continue to work if you upgrade to DS10. If you reinstall the system, you’ll need to reinstall Sapphire of course.
