[Mitch Ives]I realize that my crystal ball is no better than yours Gary, but I interpret that to mean that we will be waiting for some time for this next “major release”, i.e. not in the “nearer term”. Will that be 6 months… a year… who knows.

    FCP X2 (2013)

I’m actually surprised Automatic Duck for FCPX isn’t sold on the App Store yet.

That did the trick. Thanks, Conrad!

Umm…what announcement? That Apple will release API’s for 3rd Party Developers to do something? What does that even mean? What if it’s not so cut and dry?

I have just started having this issue, and I’m also on the newer 12-core Mac Pro. Compressor exports just fine to H.264 (from 1080 60i source), but then exporting to MPEG-2 gives me the green bar, with a frozen shot on the top of the bar, and the video moving normally (yet jerky in movement) on the bottom. I’ve disabled Qmaster, but that doesn’t change anything.

This is Final Cut Pro Studio 2. Anyone ever find a solution to this?

Then all those people who wished for Apple to have a monopoly on the technology sector will get their wish.

    Won’t life be grand then?

[Chris Borjis][T]he unfortunate aspect is a lot of us are heavily vested in the mac hardware we have and doing a 180 swap into pc land would be painful.

I think what Apple does with the Mac Pro lines will be telling. If, instead of refreshing it, they drop them entirely from their lineup, I think not only will you see the switch to AVID/Premiere, but also a switch over to Windows 7 machines.

I was wondering why in the middle of a few of your posts you suddenly broke out with a “‘nother round bartender!”

[Scott Sheriff]Yep, it our fault. We should have know this is how they do business.

Are you trying to say that Apple has never done something like this before? It IS how they do business, and it’s quite possible that they will kill off their pro line entirely (depending on what happens with the Mac Pro will be telling…if they kill it off, then they are well on their way to being an iOS-only company…if they address the concerns about FCPX and release a killer Mac Pro with screaming hardware, I’ll do a complete 180 on what I think about Apple’s commitment to our market).

I don’t think you need to invest in all the current NLEs on the market, but you DO need to have a game plan when a company decides to go in a different direction that what your needs are and there’s nothing you can do about it.
