[Lance Bachelder]As long as we have fast GPU’s we really don’t need 12 core machines anymore?

Those fast GPUs remain dormant when it comes time to render out.

[Michael Sanders]When FCP first came out, how long did it take you to do those things?

When FCP first came out, consumer desktop NLEs where still in their infancy. Now we have a decade of development and still have these issues?

    Please.

[Sean Thomas]Just think, only 2-3 months ago, many FCP7 users went to NLE’s because X didn’t have multi-cam editing, XML, and monitor output. By the time they did their research, reconfig the computer, learn the software, etc…. FCP has already passed them up.

Where the heck does this attitude originate from? FCPX is not a one-time offer.

I’ved edited on the AVID that was right after the acquisition of Pinnacle. I remember liking a few things about the interface, but it was really limited. Easier to use than the Media Composer that was available at the time though.

[Rafael Amador]MBLooks is a highly sophisticated app but needs to know a bit about color to don’t stay just in the presets.
The first MB version (not yet called Looks) had a full numeric interface that would scare most of todays users.

Colorista II is much better for actual color correction.

You get Photoshop, Premiere, AE, Speedgrade (CS6), Audition, ect. ect. ect. with Adobe…so I fail to see your point.

I really don’t care about Looks, though I see how clearly it fits into the mindset of “template heaven” that FCPX seems to be about.

Show me Colorista II and I’ll be more interested. Hell, even Sapphire Edge isn’t really that exciting (for the same reason Looks isn’t).

PluralEyes is however. Wonder when that gets out of beta.

[Thomas Frank]What are you talking about? All Apps I have purchaesd over the App Store on my iPad had free updates.

Yeah, there’s no way in hell that’s going to be the case until the end of time. There will be another entry on the App Store at some point for an upgrade to FCPX. Whether that will be labeled as FCPX2 or FCPX 10.1 or whatever is anyone’s guess, but it will be the case.

It remains to be seen just what kind of functional state FCPX (original) will be in at that point.

[Andy Neil]Surely opening FCP 7 projects in X is ipso facto confirmation of the existence of God.

Or the first sign of the impending apocalypse.

[Craig Seeman]It does mean that .1 will be a much bigger deal than this.

To you only. Not necessarily to Apple.
