DAW means Digital Audio Workstation.
In simple terms it’s a software app to mix sound such as Pro Tools or Soundtrack Pro. -
AE is a poor choice for audio work. Edit and mix the original audio in your NLE or DAW. The audio you import into AE should be used for reference only. Bring your AE renders back into your NLE and match them back up to the audio master tracks.

You need to reframe the question. The question isn’t should I be shooting and finishing in HD now? The question is will I be expected to deliver in HD 5 years from now? If the answer is yes then you need to plan accordingly and work toward that goal. Spreading out the purchasing over 5 years makes the transition far less painful. One of the things you should be doing now is shooting your SD material in 16:9 (full height anamorphic). Scaling up 16:9 SD source footage to HD looks OK. Scaling 4:3 SD source footage is less than ideal – you’re trying to fit a square peg into a rectangular hole.
Again, looking forward – what will be the norm 5 years from now ?

“…look at movie titles for recent films and you will see some amazing complicated work. Then look at some of the great titles of not that long ago and watch how simple they are. Technology has come a long way in a short period of time.” – Stephen Smith
Complicated high tech work doesn’t automatically equate to good design. Saul Bass was creating amazing title designs with motion graphics long before After Effects or any of the other modern day tools existed.
Regarding Motion Design vs. Motion Graphic Design, they are not necessarily the same thing. Some metal sculptors create huge structures that are designed to move with the wind. The motion is part of the dynamic of the artwork. Are these sculptors also considered motion designers? Was Rube Goldberg a Motion Designer?

September 21, 2010 at 5:35 pm in reply to: After Effects CS5 Larger-Format Rendering IssuesI would use the QT render > AVI conversion workaround. Sure, it stinks that you have to use a workaround because of the 32 pixel restriction. But it beats the heck out of using DAK’s clunky sequence designer.
I hope Adobe fixes the size restriction with the next version. The use of LED facia boards is expanding well beyond stadium use.

Don’t you see?
In order to unify
you have to multiply.
Crunch that raster
it should go faster.
It’s the compress
that’s causing the distress.
1000 attempts?
Sounds like fun.
Try it again for 1001.
Samsung Syncmaster
what a disaster.
The video is 2 parts or maybe 3.
I don’t understand, but that’s just me.HTH
