The answer is Fox News and deliberate policy.

*Seeing as this thread could quickly go downhill from here I’ll quitely step away from the keyboard now.

  • What are your preview settings? Previewing at low res can make some flares appear much bolder than they are at full res. Set your viewer and/or RAM preview settings to full res to get an accurate picture of what the rendered output will look like.

  • Knoll Light Factory allows you to set the obscuration layer.

You might be able to use expressions to do the same thing. But you’d need a smart guy like Dan Ebberts to do the math. Check the expressions forum.

“the sync output of our Changeover feeds the input of the DA card through a BNC “T” connector” – A.F.

    “I ran a single coax that I’m T’ing to the various bays.” – A.F.

T connectors cause more problems than they solve. Get rid of them.

“Then again, the higher levels of Avid are usually on Macs — at least as far as I’ve seen.” Nick G.

Many Post Houses use PC based Media Composers and Symphonies. And Avid’s top of the line system, the DS, only runs on the PC platform. Besides that it’s not a big deal switching between a PC Media Composer and a Mac Media Composer. It’s just a different OS, the UI and the commands are the same.

    What codec are you using?
The old Thunder DDR’s utilized the Pinnacle DV codec for files with embedded alpha channels.

November 15, 2009 at 4:15 pm in reply to: Map Trace Effect (Animation) How To?

Start with a large map and a large comp. Use the pen tool to draw the path. Use the stroke effect and animate the start point of the stroke to draw the line. Use the shape tool to create the dots that mark the cities. Nest the large comp in a smaller comp to create camera movement across the map. If none of this makes any sense to you, you should consider hiring someone to do it for you.

I have the demo of KLF at home and a licensed version at work. The demo version looks like the image you posted, random speckles. Contact Red Giant to resolve your licensing issues.

We have Adobe’s Production Premium bundles installed on our edit machines. This gives us access to the tools we need in post – PS, AE, AI and Encore. If you’re using an Adobe’s apps already for web content you could upgrade to a bundle that included Encore. Check to see if Adobe has a trial version of Encore.

If you absolutely don’t want to spend any cash you could use iMovie or iDVD.

I agree with Grinner. Don’t let the DVD application drive your choice of a NLE. This is sort of like choosing a car because you like the color of the interior.

Feed the output 3 (super) to a monitor and turn on character.

Hit the menu button and navigate to menu #710, internal video signal. Set it to black, bars, etc.

Menu #808 is the internal audio signal. Set it to silence for black or tone for bars.

    good luck.
