    Hello Collin,

I just got home from work and saw your reply. I tried it again and I see what you mean. It does appear to be backwards from what we think it sould do from what Apple says about 3d position in z space and not layer order. I did a quick test on my first reply and I should have spent more time on exploring your issue.

I am not really an expert on Motion. I am forcing myself into using it more to develop a better workflow routine with FCP and Motion. I come from AE, Boris, Fusion and Combustion.

The checkbox is not magic. It is just a 2d/3d checkbox in the inspector emitter tab. I saw this in a video tutorial when motion 3 came out. I was in LA, but I took an offer to come work with a company out east. All the COW people should be able to help you on this.

edit-checkout Motion 3 at MacBreak: Manipulating Objects in 3D.

also MacBreak 88: Mixing 2D and 3D Assets in Motion.

and, the tutorial I was talking about earlier is actually MacBreak 74: Studio Motion 3 in 3D. At the end he gets into Particles and he actually does call it the magic checkbox. 🙂

    Best regards,

I was kidding about the pay. I charge too much after 30 years of experience. I told you what you might need to do. Did you try it? Also look in the manual and see what it says about emitters and 3D. There is an obviuos chapter on the left side list in the manual for Working with Particles and if you take a few seconds to look through the list in that chapter you will see Modifying Emitter Properties. The rest is up to you which will only make your services valuable to your clients. 🙂

Did you tell the emitter to be 3D in its inspector menu? Works here for me. Now how much does this job pay? 🙂

I got a Sachtler DV8 with carbon sticks and a mid level spreader. The DV8 allows me to use a newer LCD teleprompter when needed. And it is not any heavier than the DV6.

JES Deinterlacer has been doing it for some time now. At least a year. And it is a free app. I, and many others, have used it successfully for Canon HV20 footage that is 24p.

thanks steve. i didn’t have the energy and the list could be bigger. once again, the suits make a product less than an engineer can deliver so it will allow their job security to fix it in the future.

Yes, it drains while not on the camera after two days. I now have to go through all the hassle of returning and waiting.
I am also still waiting for the larger 60 spare battery I ordered.
