Just so you can get some Jr high caliber AV guy to tell you to completely reinstall the OS and the Apps and then call him back.
When in reality all the caller needed to do was change the video out settings to “play all frames” (true story)There are rumblings that the PCIx Machines will not be EOL’d until closer to, or at macworld,- no confirmation of course- but interesting, this is the same thing Apple did when starting to ship the OSX only machines- the older OS9 ones were kept on the roster for a while to clear out the supply chain and keep certain customers happy.

thats not exactly correct any longer, as FCP is moving to GPU based performance (like motion) more RT will be seen on the newest generation of cards for Video Displays. Apple has said that it is the new paradigm will rely on cards with extended GPU functions like the ATI X800 / XT850 and the new cards from Nvidia.Gary Adcock

Create a new 1080i60 seq with the proper settings and copy and paste all of the content into the new timeline.

I was not trying to rip you, and I apologize, my response was not my most genial of this day.
but please look at your post again– you are complaining about an HD Frame Rate setting referencing Apple’s NTSC comments. HD is not NTSC — Too bad apple does not get it.There is much much more to the video world that just FCP. But considering the ATSC specs on DTV it’s a miracle that any of us ever get any work up for transmission.
Apple does not have all the answers, and frankly neither do the rest of us. However, between walter, marco, chrispy, myself and others here we have a more than a couple of lifetimes of experience.

It was included in the easy setup for law enforcement as I said, and places like NASA uses 30fps also.
30p is also a standard shooting frame rate for content that will be Live / Real Time compressed Video for streaming over the internet.It is there because enough people that use AJA hardware need and use those settings.
But as a setting it is no more useful to the average user in the US than PAL settings are, and I don’t hear any complaints from users about having 25fps settings. But that does not mean one should just grab them and use them if you do not know or are not sure what they are for.

30 frame content is still used in scientific and forensic analysis, however since when is 1080 content of any kind an NTSC format?
On dealing with your clients – tell the them the truth (they don’t know what they are doing, but you can help them) or tell them nothing and next time they find a post house that will.
But really, if you are looking to the FCP manual for info like on a setting like this you are seriously misguided into thinking that apple understands anything about DF vs NDF frame rates or anything other than 23.98 and 29.97fps — they have had more than a few years to work on 25fps and still don’t have that right.

back in the days when RAM cost more than the machines – I have a tattered yellow invoice tacked on the wall in my office for $11,475.12 for 256mgs of RAM for a Quadra 700 ( it’s a quad so it counts!!!)–beside it is an OS8.6 Error message telling me “You cannot use Virtual Memory at this time because there is more than 1024mgs of RAM installed in this machine”
