well if the image is 720×480 pixels it is being measured in Pixels and therefor cannot be at any rez other that.

The problem lies within the way that photoshop allows you to create a file. You can create a new file in
either version of the CS version of Photoshop, select the default for 720×480 and then type in a rez of 400 dpi and photoshop resizes the image to 1.8″ x1.2″ instead of the 10″ x 6.67″ size when you are at 72 dpi.

If you create a new Default 720×480 @ 72 doc in photoshop- then change the DPI to 400– the physical image size stays the same ( at 10 x6.67 inches) even though the resolution and pixel size increase. (and the file jumps from 1.1 megs to over 30mgs)

but it will handle a interlaced signal better than either the Dell or Cinema Display, does not need a converter and accepts any HD signal.

I wanted to add that I have seen this as a result of the FW board become jostled in transit.

I usually get the -00 code when there are TC breaks on the tape or you are trying to record to your NLE when the settings on the deck are not correct also. (trying to record HD with the FW out setting to 50mbps)

HD formats recorded in camera do this type of horz pixel scaling. Think of it as digital anamorphic-
Because you are working with the native video file as captured– HDV, HDCAM and DVCPROHD all do thisso that as past of the compression, so that all of the data actually can be squeezed onto the tape. (JVC’s implementation of HDV being the exception)

Video Compressed using the DVCPROHD format in 720p your video will be recorded at the tape head ( or P2) at the 960×720 frame size The 1080 version of DVCPROHD ends up being 1280×1080. It is not magic or voodoo. The video out signal will comply to the SMPTE spec for the video format you have chosen to shoot.
You will need to Select “QT Conversion” for your output so that that aspect ratio is correct for NON-DVCPROHD materials.

Yes, with something like a Kona LH/e you can record it at whatever compression (up to 10bit uncompressed) as it is an analog HD signal

However I do not know of any 4:4:4 solutions that can record an analog signal, nor is the signal out of the camera 4:4:4, as the camera can only output the signal as 4:2:2

It sounds as if you are trying to compress 16×9 material, that would account for the size difference.

You can set the option in the Ipod to play back 16×9 content as 4:3 (center crop)

if you are referring to the on screen display that the 1200a deck gives you in the on menus, I was told that it means you had one of the longer (126 minute -Yellow label)cassette in the machine.

As far as I know there is not a provision to do an Long Play recording to tape in a 1200a deck.
(and please correct if I am in error)
