There’s an alternative, not built-in however but works very similar to the on-off switch in After Effects: Reelsmart Motion Blur.

I have tested this plugin in Sony Vegas and it even supports GPU acceleration. It does a pretty decent job for image and text animation, though it’s mainly used for live footage. You can use it in a video track or on top of the entire project.

There are also versions for Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, Nuke and even After Effects.

Dave, I know how to use After Effects or motion blur for that matter, the question is: Is there an alternative for realtime video editors.

No, because only a person who has worked with After Effects will know what the Automatic Motion Blur is. Plus the question is open for any other video editor besides Premiere.

Thank you, I do reserve 3 GB of RAM to background applications. Still however the computer manages to get slow, will definitely buy another 8GB of RAM to make up for it.

I installed Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6 RC (DP46-KB3006563-x86-x64-AllOS-ENU.exe) and the error is gone!

Thank you I will, the weird part of this, is that my old Widows 8.1 computer works perfectly smooth with Windows 8.1 and Vegas.

Hi John,

I’m having the same problem with Windows 8.1, that hotfix is only available for Windows 7 and 8, Windows 8.1 come bundled with Netframework 4.5. I contacted Microsoft support and they weren’t able to fix it, even after going through a remote session.
