    Hi!

    Did you find a solution?

    Have the same issue

    //F

  • Hi!

    Finally it works.

This is the solution that AJA came up with.

For Mac Voice-over using SDI input of the IoXT, go to Premiere Pro Preferences (Premiere Pro menu>Preferences) and select:

    – Audio Hardware and choose System Default Input/Output from the Adobe Desktop Audio menu

    – Playback and choose Adobe Desktop Audio from the Audio Device menu. Video AJA IoXT

Also, in Mac OS System Preferences, go to Sound and select the AJA IoXT device (Core Audio) for both Input and Output.

  • UPDATE:

Seem to have located the problem and a work around.

The problem seem to be the Audio and the Video Playback setting to AJA IO when doing the V/O.

If I set Video and Audio Playback to Adobe DV and then set the Voice-Over Record setting to AJA IO then it works as it should be.

If I set the Video and Audio Playback to IO Express when using the IO Express then I can record the Voice-Over but it will be stuttery. If I instead use the IO XT then it will sound even worse with echoing.

So as I said before the work around is to set the Video and Audio Playback to something else than the AJA IO but that is not a good option because I need the playback to work the same time I record the V/O.

Anyone who can try this and see if they have the problem?

  • Thanks for the tip but it didn’t help me at all.

But now even my AJA IO Express won’t even work as expected.

I have been installing and uninstalling AJA IO software many times now to find out where the problem is.
    But can’t find the problem.

Have tried “Capture” in PP and that works perfectly with great audio. It seems it is only the Voice-Over that is the problem.

A few times I can record audio using the Voice-Over but then it is stuttering and distorted and lots of echoing. But most of the times I don’t get any audio at all except for a strange digital sound at -30-40 dB.

I still get the spinning wheel of death many times when trying to change a setting.

When I export to XDCam I always choose dual mono and that works great. You can’t export stereo tracks back to a XDCam mxf what I know of. How could that be a problem for a broadcasting company?

    Hi!

Well in english it is not easy for me to explain what we are still working on. But I will give it a try.

We bought the BMD Smart Control and connected it to our Studio hub. As there is no 422-port in the Studio hub we’ve got some help from a technician we know who soldered inside the smart control and made a D-sub connector. We then connected the smart controls D-sub to a device where we connect all the RCP’s. Because all the touchdown works as on/off buttons the guy who’s helping us also will build in the device some kind of “relay” (don’t know if this is the correct english) that works like this when you release the touchown it will go back to PGM. Without this you always have to press a button manually to make the smart control to go back to PGM.

We have also heard that BMD is building some kind of a GPI-device which will be released 2012Q1. A lot of people are asking for this. That is very interesting.

    Hi Stefan!

I’m interested to know if you solved the problem?

We are also building a new small OB truck and are planning to buy a BMD videohub to use it together with 4 of Sonys RCP-750.

“We built a device which communicates with the compact video hub through the RS422 port”

What kind of a device did you build to make it work?

Ruslan, my friends never told me what settings the resellers used in FCP. But it sounds more and more that the resellers did not know how to configure to a fully working system.

Well, the reseller was not selling Avid. My friends talked to Avid about their requirements and Avid offered Nitris through one of the resellers and my friends tried it out and finally bought the system.
My opinion is that they first should have called another Aja-reseller and talked to them.
But they are happy with their Avid system now, even though they probably paid 2-3 times more than a complete MacPro-system.
