Best way for 2 editors sharing projects fast?
Hi!
Planning a project where me and another editor will work on a 30 min show. The editing time is short and I’m thinking what would be the most efficient.
We are working on PP CS6 on separate Macbook Pro Retina’s in the same house. The idea so far is that we will work like this (have not tried it yet):
1 – I transcode all XDCam 700 footage into one external hd.
2 – Copy all files to another external hd so it is exactly the same as the first one (almost a clone of the first external hd). This hd is also the backup.
3 – After the transcoding and copying/cloning I use the first hd connected to my Macbook Pro and import the video files to a project in PP.
4 – The other editor connects the second hd to his Macbook Pro and import the video files to a project in PP. We should now both have all video files using the same paths.
5 – We both work on different parts of the 30 min show. My project include the master sequence.
6 – The other editor finish one or more sequences and save the project file and give it to me and I import the sequences to PP on my computer.
7 – I should be able to copy his sequence into my master sequence without any problems regarding the video files being on his hd because that one is a clone of my hd.This is one way to do it – if I get this to work. Have to try it first.
Could there be any easier or better way?
This editing will be on location and we will not be able to bring a lot of equipment with us.
Should you have done any differently?
