Thanks Michael. I guess it doesn’t work for me since I’m trying to relink offline mixdowns to retranscoded individual clips with the same timecode.
Wait, didn’t you warn me about this a few months ago! 😉
Mixdowns are evil.
Thanks again.

Hi Michael,
Yes I am. I don’t see the option “relink to selected”?
Thanks,

Cool, so that would transcode the clips individually with handles?
Also, it would ignore the clips that are already in the same codec? So that’s what checking “Include reformatted clips already at target resolution is for?
Exciting to discover all these AVID features…

Is there anyway to render the parts of the timeline where the AMAs are in order to play smoothly?
I don’t have time to retranscode all the AMAs but I do have time to render the timeline for it to play smoothly so I can refine the edit…

August 12, 2012 at 2:33 pm in reply to: CS5.5 Production Premium to CS 6 – Cloud or no cloud? Thanks everyone for the info. So I decided to go for the cloud. As I understand it, it’s more like a subscription to the Adobe software than it is a ‘cloud’. The software installs locally and can be run without an internet connection.
Basically you agree to pay Adobe a monthly fee moving forward in exchange for having access to the latest versions of all their production software (more than the production premium suite). Also, it facilitates moving software from one machine (cross platform) to the next under your subscription.
Since we owned production premium CS 5.5 licenses, it’s only $30 per month per user (2 computers per, one at a time) for the next year (offer expires at the end of the month).
Considering how much upgrades have cost in the past and how frequent they have been, it’s a good deal for us. Also, it gives us access to all the web dev software we didn’t have before since we had the production premium. Finally we can always add a seat of AE or Photoshop or any other software for only a couple months if needed.
Great move on Adobe!
Thanks all for the help.

Thanks so much! excellent suggestion. It allowed me to get a cut out. Still have to re-transcode all the lost footage for realtime editing but at least I could output a cut.
You da man!

And you just saved me an estimated month total spending time setting IN & OUT to show waveform over the course of my career…
Thanks Michael! 🙂

May 16, 2012 at 1:33 pm in reply to: Splice-In tool (with mouse) with multiple audio tracksAh, I see what my problem is. It’s impossible to select the blank filler on track2 with the VA1 clip because it is preceded by a clip with no audio on track2. Even though when I put an IN & OUT at first it looks like it will grab track2 with it but as soon as I drag it, it drops track2.
If the filler is surrounded by audio, then it is possible to drag it with VA1.
Makes sense Mike?
