April 14, 2012 at 7:53 am in reply to: Can’t get SnagIt Mp4 into Vegas

It looks like the MP4 generated by Snagit/Camtasia is not fully compatible with Vegas.

If, like me, you prefer editing you screencasts with Vegas, and look for a tool which only focuses on the job of recording the screen, you might be interested by the software I have just developped and which is available in beta:

    https://m.fbmn-software.com/webApp/EVAL?product=SCC

A demo video (recorded with this same tool) is available here:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COc-fWrFp5I&list=UU2n1cB9A9aIJjuNz7a5O25w&index=1&feature=plcp

It should be in an official release state in a few days, but you can download it and evaluate it right now.

    Hope this helps,
    Frederic

April 4, 2012 at 8:45 pm in reply to: Edit iPhone 4S videos – getting me crazy

Many thanks for your prompt answer.

Unfortunately I am afraid that posting a video will not help: taken alone, each event behaves well on my computer. The problem arises ‘only’ when I drop a set of files (with multiple selection or dropping them one by one, doesn’t matter).

Following your remark I have looked for any specification about the QuickTime version required by Vegas on the Sony web site, but could not find anything. They just say they support ‘MOV’. If you have any hint…

    Best regards and thanks again,
    Frederic

    I don’t think so either.

No mention of it on https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/vegaspro/gpuacceleration.

Thanks for the still. As illustrated with the histogram shown below, the initial data are actually quite burned and a good part of them stick to the maximum of 255, for which nothing but magic can be done 🙂

So below is the original vs. what I get.

Many thanks Steve for the reference to FBmn Software!

Mark, the web site is https://www.fbmn-software.com/en/exposure.html. If you are reluctant to download and install the plug-in, instead you may post a still of your movie here, I will be pleased to apply the effect on it and post the result back in this thread.

    Best regards,

April 1, 2012 at 10:12 am in reply to: Driver issue when trying to use CUDA with Vegas

    Hi,

it might be worth trying the digital output with a recent driver and with Windows set to a low resolution (e.g. 1024×768) and a low frequency. Maybe your monitor has an issue with some modes if they are managed differently by the new drivers, than by the older one??

If this works, then you could try different settings to improve the resolution and the frequency step by step from within Windows, which would fall back to the initial settings after 10-15 seconds if it does not work.

    My 2 cents,
    Frederic

  • Hi,

Not an expert on New Blue and Magic Bullet, but if your plug-ins are OFXs, they should be located in the ‘c:program filescommon filesOFX’ folder.

So you may check if you have such a folder, and if you see .ofx files in its subfolders (especially in the 32 or 64 bit folder depending on your Vegas architecture): this will be a first indication.

Then, you might also have a look at the Vegas .log files, located in the Application Data folder of your [user] directory. You should have lines stating which plug-ins have been loaded, and details about errors if any have occurred.

    Hope this helps,
    Frederic

March 17, 2012 at 11:52 am in reply to: preview screen

    Hi,

    I am afraid not.

    Other suggestions:
    – use the grid available from the preview toolbar
    – you might use the pan/crop tool to accurately set the coordinates of your shapes (I don’t know how you put them over by the way): there you will find text fields to enter X and Y coordinates.

    Hope this helps,
    Frederic

  • Hi,

About the washed-out look, I would like to say that a new version of Exposure GPU has just been released.

It brings advanced color correction to avoid this wash-out effect, and keep colors saturated, and also provides enhanced highlights correction up to 200%.

The following picture shows 2 examples with original, Exposure before today, and the new Exposure GPU 3.0.

More information can be found on https://www.fbmn-software.com/en/exposure.html

    Best regards,
    Frederic

  • Glad to help as far as I can Paul.

What I can say is that since my 5 plug-ins have been released (more than 1 year ago for the first one), zero bug has been reported. Every time customers have reported an issue, it turned out to be reproducible within Vegas, without the FBmn Software plug-ins, showing that it was not coming from them. But well, I agree, it does not mean that there will never be any bug discovered in them 🙂 So far so good anyway.
