We got all formats to play back by uninstalling the 1.8.4 drivers, then installing FinalCut Pro, so all the proper codecs were in place then reinstalling the 1.8.4 drivers.
Now the issue seems to be that some files play fine while others, of the same format, will start to play then the video stops while the audio continues…
I will contact BMD Support and see if they can look into this.

We are running the NDD drivers.
We had to move the ATTO Card out of slot 4 because it was not working properly in the 16x slot (an ATTO driver/firmware issue). The KONA is a 4x card an it appears to work in any slot. Since slot 2 and 3 are fixed at 4x, but share the cam bus, we moved to KONA to slot 4. So nothing is shared on the slot 2-3 bus.

-So I understand, you have K3’s in these machines,
Yes
– you have -10.5.2, FCP 6.03 & QT 7.4.5 and when you make things in -Livetype, they render out and display properly?
Yes
– If so, then you -are unique.
Thanks, my mother always said I was unique.
-Are you using third party plugins like Primatte? Have you -rendered very long sequences, like 30 minutes worth where the -whole timeline needs rendering? This would be good to know…
Not Primatte… but yes we have rendered very long sequences, usually not one effect on the entire sequence but LiveType segments and other effects that require the whole thing to be rendered.

I must disagree with Mitch.
We have five Early 2008 8 core machines (2.8 and 3.2 Ghz) running with all OS & QT updates installed and the NDD drivers from AJA, we have seen none of the issues he has. Very stable.

Hi Peter
What we have found is that there is a problem with Nuendo passing video to the KONA card when the video file does not have the same number of lines and the KONA output setting.
For example: If the file is DVCam 720X480 and the KONA is set to output 720X486 then Nuendo stops output to the video card after about 10 seconds of export.
Everything is file if the is 1280X720 and the KONA is set to DVCProHD or if the file is any native KONA aspect ration format.

The point was that, as of today, the ATTO R30 is not happy in slot 2. Maybe your eSata card is?

Thank you for the heads up on that note. Apparently there are others that are still sorting things out with both the newest Mac Pro systems and 10.5.2.
As Jean-Philippe Mariani pointed out in this posting, https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/98/869152 AJA is recommending that the ATTO-EAS-R380 be place in a 4x slot.
ATTO has confirmed that there are some known issue with the early 2008 MacPro and the R380 card and they are working on it.
I am confident that AJA and ATTO will get it done.

One other thing.
We can’t select the Kona-3 as a Macintosh Desktop monitor. The selection is not greyed out it just does not work.

Slots 3 and 4 are fixed at 4x as is the Kona-3. We have the Kona-3 in slot 4, but slot 3 should work as well.
We have an 8x Raid card in slot 2, it will run up to 16x so the 8x is fine there.
No big problems so far other than some small issues with 10.5.2.
