There is an easier and quicker way and you can find it here.

Yes it will, as it works on the firewire 400 port. The only problem is that you cant put anything else on the firewire bus with i,t as it doesn’t work very well with other devices including ext firewire drives.

Sorry to hear of your frustration and dissapoinment but this sounds like a case of Apple should be supplying you with the new computer and a new kona PCIe card and a new PCIe card for you raid so you can get back to work asap or at least ship you one of the dual 2.7ghz PCIx machines they are still selling.

>For that matter, is there a way to open the audio transition in the source viewer so I can change this stuff as well?
Yes, you just double click on the audio clip just as you would on a video clip and it will open in the viewer. You could also bring up the mixer window and make sure the record keyframes box in the top right is checked. Then play the clip and grab the fader with the mouse and drag it down at whatever speed you like and it will create the necessary keyframes for you. -
Check to see what your media capture settings are, then create a new sequence with the same setting and drag a clip to the timeline and see if that works. If you are changing your sequence settings in the user preferences, those changes will only affect new sequences not the current one. To change your current sequence you go to Sequence>settings, and change it there. You cannot however change the editing timebase of a sequence once a clip has been added to the timeline.

The G-raid has two 160gb drives stripped as raid 0. It shows up as one drive on the desktop. The new sata cards look interesting.

Was the computer that had a melt down a Dual 2.3 or a Dual Core 2.3 If it was just a dual 2.3 ghz be prepared to fork out some more dollars if they send you a new dual core machine.
1. It has the PCI e bus so none of you cards will work in it.
2. FCP 4.5 will not work with the video card that comes in the new machines so you will have to upgrade to ver.5 -
Hmmm best start with some basic troubleshooting. Cables first. If you connect the video out cable from the 3/4 deck to a monitor instead of to the AJA, are you seeing picture on the monitor? Do you have blackburst being sent to the 3/4 and the AJA? Does it need to be terminated? Have you ad previous success capturing with the AJA in any other modes?

Helmut,
I have a G4 17″ 1.5ghz PB with 1gb ram. FCP5 studio package. I am running an AJA Io LA on the FW400 port and because the FW400 & FW800 ports on the PB use the same bus, you cant run anything else on that bus (even on the FW800 port)) as the AJA uses up a lot of the bandwdth. So I have a Lacie PCMCIA FW800 card for the card bus slot. Then I have a G-Raid 320gb hard drive running off the card. So far it has worked great and I was even able to do a component out layback, to a Beta SP deck, of a 30 min, 10 bit 4:2:2 uncompressed NTSC sequence with 4 video and 6 audio tracks
