I have a project which was captured as DVCPro50 NTSC Anamorphic however I’m forced to render whenever i put clips into the timeline regardless of which format my sequence is set to. Is this a format problem or perhaps something else. Thanks for any help.

Things to check. Look at your easy setup and make sure all the windows match your capture which also needs to match the way you shot your footage. Your sequence settings need to match or you will need to render.

Check to see what your media capture settings are, then create a new sequence with the same setting and drag a clip to the timeline and see if that works. If you are changing your sequence settings in the user preferences, those changes will only affect new sequences not the current one. To change your current sequence you go to Sequence>settings, and change it there. You cannot however change the editing timebase of a sequence once a clip has been added to the timeline.

You probably need to open “Sequence Settings” (right click your sequence in the browser) and check the “Anamorphic 16:9” box.

    That should do it.
