Once you trash the thumbnail cache, (it’s a folder on the scratch disk) trash your render files as well and then re-render.

How full are the hard drives connected to the system. That is “ALL” drives including the system drive itself, not just the medea drive. You should have at least 10%, preferably 20%, space left on all drives on the system. Check the little drop down box at the top in the middle of the canvas to make sure it is “fit to window”. Also make sure audio waveforms are not showing in the timeline as that can slow down playback and caused dropped frames.

Just do some simple math and work out whether it’s worth the purchase. i.e.
How much to rent a deck?
How much to buy the deck?
How often do you actually receive Digibeta tapes?
How often do you need to layback to Digibeta?
If it’s something you would use on a daily basis then it’ll probably pay for itself. If you only use it once a month it’s probably better to rent. -
The only people that can really answer that is the Station/s you are delivering to. Call them and find out what their delivery requirements are.

If it was the HVX200 there is about 80 different choices.

Again in FCP there are a lot more choices, you have to be more specific. In general the reason why you are having problems is that your timeline settings dont match your clip settings. MAKE A NEW sequence and BEFORE dragging any clips to it, make sure it’s settings match ALL those of your clips and you will not need to render
