There is more than one way to do this but here’s the one I used for the example.
Track 1 is my green screen with frame.
Track 2 and 3 is the Snapshot I took at the Marker point so it will match the video when the effect starts.
Track 3 is the video.On track 2, using Track Motion, I made the still match the Green Screen Frame. Saved it as a Preset in Track Motion and used that same preset on Tracks 3 & 4 so everything match’s. This is the important part. Make sure that the end of your Still Frame event match’s the point where you took the Snapshot.
Once you’re done and happy with everything, render it and then bring it back to a new Vegas project and use Track Motion to Zoom In on everything.
In order to keep everything flowing and organized, make sure you name all of your Tracks and Markers.
P.S.: The more astute among you will notice that the picture above doesn’t quite match the video. I didn’t think of saving the original .VEG file so I had to redo it. Sigh….

I recently went thru the gruelling process of updating my computer. To paraphrase someone else on this post that shall remain nameless, Damn it Jim, I’m an editor, not an IT tech !!! . But I can share with you some of the caveats of putting one together.
In a perfect world, Magix would let us know what would be the ideal build for the software. They only give out the minimum requirements.
First off, I didn’t feel like spending any cash on things that I already had. I figured that I could re-use the power supply, the mid-tower, all of my drives and of course the keyboard and mouse. I did my homework and spent almost a year reading anything I could find that was pertinent. Like you, I found that 99% of what is out there is aimed exclusively at gamers. What’s left is mostly outdated. Not much out there to chew on.
I’ll start at the low end of things, the case, the lowly unassuming metal box. It’s only after I had installed the motherboard, the CPU, all of the drives (6) that I found out that the GPU that I had purchased was almost 1/2 an inch longer than what could fit in my Mid Tower. Back to the store. Bought a new case. Disassembled everything and started again. Everything fit… except that I realized after the fact that cases don’t automatically come with a slot for the DVD Burner. Sigh…
I originally bought a power supply on steroid. I remembered from way back, a comment from one of the maintenance techs at the TV station I started at, giving this analogy about power supplies: ”Compare your power supply with an engine rated to rev at no more than 4000 RPM. If you’re driving cross country at 3950 RPM versus driving a car with an engine rated to rev at 6000 RPM, guess which engine will die first.” I myself got a 1000W.
Apart from the obvious ”CPU type has to fit the Motherboard” look at the ones with a faster bus speed. No point in having a Ferrari, trying to get from point A to point B if you’re driving on a curvy narrow road. Get one that has strait highways. Data transfer rate counts.And most important, I found that offering the proverbial sacrificial chicken to the proper Gods helped a lot….

You will have to choose between one of the sizes. I assume that the majority of your footage is in 16:9 ? Then set your project to that. Your viewers will understand that older footage doesn’t have the same look.
When using 4:3 size video, here’s one way to make the footage look less aggressive to the eye.
Use two tracks of the same footage. Use Track Motion to enlarge your bottom track in order to cover all of the black and then apply a Gaussian Blur to your liking. By using the same picture, you get to keep the same colour pallet thus making your ”cheat” less conspicuous.

Hey Graham, think I found it.
The difference that stood out from both is that in Files/Properties/Ruler one had Time & Frames and the other had SMPTE Drop (29.97 fps, Video).
The one causing problems was Time & Frames. No problem using Control+G and getting to where I wanted to with SMPTE Drop (29.97 fps, Video) selected.
Does it do anything for you Kelly ?
P.S.: At some point and time, I will go thru all of them and see if any others have the same effect. Keep you posted.

Have you tried converting your tracks to mono ?
Right click on your stereo audio track before you render and go to Channels/Combine.
Quick, cheap and easy.

I love a good mystery . On some of my projects, if I want to go to any position I always end up at the same point regardless of the numbers I type in. For example, I have a clip that has a total duration of 00:17:34.25. Whatever I type in, I always end up at 00:18:00.00.
Then I open a different project with the same type of files and effects and whatever numbers I type in, it gets me there. 00172321 will go to 00:17:23.21. I have been able to reproduce Kelly’s problem but only on some of my projects. There has to be a smoking gun somewhere…
