  • BorisFX and GenArts,

Will you be responding back regarding this question? A lot of valid users would like to keep using particleillusion especially if someday you decide to take down the registration server(s).

It would be nice if you could finally update us on this question. I mean almost 1 year and waiting for a response on this forum is a Bit long to wait for an answer.

  • Just an update.

I still have another 58 pages to go through and then I will be posting an update regarding which files I still could not find. Once I have gone over the remaining 58 pages, that will complete my Archive of user posted emitters and project files starting from Jun 21st 2016 back to over the very first posting on this forum.

Once I get a list of “missing” emitters and/or project files that I could not find, I will send out a request here if anyone can help with sending them to me missing items. The nice thing about DropBox, you are able to download “All” files in one large zip file.

    Thanks,
    Francois

  • Paul,

Did you get a response back from GenArts – now (BorisFX)?

    Just wondering.

  • Francois,

Please Do Not Forget that Magix also promised they would not be doing that last year when it was announced most SCS products would be going to MAGIX. A person from MAGIX, whom I cannot remember, also said that the software would only need to check once on the Internet to activate the software but constant internet access would not be needed.

I have been pretty much disappointed with MAGIX, their forum and their lack of faster support. The SCS software I have, I will continue to use and avoid MAGIX until they promise what they indicated.

    Thanks,
    Francois

    Rappel,

The only thing I can suggest is to use the “search” function that is part of the ParticleView program. Find something similar and then edit the effects to closely match what you are looking for. A lot of times, the Emitters under pi3 will not have an exact match as users will “tweak” an effect to match their needs. Using search I found something called StormTails located under emitters_04_06.il3 library that has the same sorta effect.

    Good Luck.

  • Paul,

Unfortunately it seems that GenArts (Now Boris) do not frequent this forum much anymore. You would have to contact GenArts at the following website https://support.genarts.com/Tickets/Submit/RenderForm/2 to create a ticket. Hopefully they can help you or point you in the right direction. As far as I know, there have been no updates for many years and I do not see anything coming from GenArts as they seem to have forgotten about this great program.

If you can go back to Windows 10 Build 1607 until GenArts fixes something, that may be your only choice. Microsoft seems to only give you 10 days now or something to go back to the previous build of Windows 10. I am staying with Windows 7 x64 until 2020.

    Good Luck.

  • Pete,

Try looking at this older Thread (Titled: Slowing down Particles) Located here: https://forums.creativecow.net/archivethread/23/497798#498149

It talks about decreasing something called the Force Strength if you are using a Force object.

I’m not sure that is what you were looking for, but this forum search function hopefully can also help you find your solution.

    Thanks,
    -Francois

    Hi Bob & Mr Lindeboom,

As Bob indicated I do not think we were “busting Alan’s chops”. I was simply concerned about this awesome software and how we can continue getting it registered in the future. Since Alan did promise me via email that he would release a patch or something so I could continue to use this software, I think it was only fair to be asking so everyone else could get this “Patch” If necessary I can post the original email that Alan had sent.

Of course there are illegal tools anyone could use but I would prefer that software that I use and Paid for still be available to me to the legal way. GenArts has been very weak at least in terms of what they were planning and only after you wrote a message Mr. Lindeboom did GenArts give further information.

I would like the promise be upheld by GenArts – now Boris to release a tool so valid paid for customers can continue to use this great tool. I do also personally apologize to Alan if he misinterpreted my previous comments. Thank you Bob for all your comments as well trying to keep this forum alive.

I do hope that Boris “does the right thing” for this great tool.

    Francois

I still believe this is a valid point and I would like GenArts to answer this. They should release to all “registered” users a self-register tool so paid users can still keep using their software. Similar to what Adobe did for their Serious Magic products they bought out… and Killed Off.
