I guess not but I am not sure. Haven´t used Media 100 i in quite some time, and I cannot remember it if would launch without a breakout box. But as far as I know it did work without it, so I guess you are seeing a different problem.

You should not update to 7.5.5 in the first place. There is a standalone installer for QuickTime 7.5, so you simply should avoid the 7.5.5 update when reinstalling and updating.

I only did the downgrade on a 10.5.5 system, so I am not sure if there is a problem with doing the downgrade on OSX 10.4.x. On 10.5, there were no issues. But of course this downgrade process is not officially supported by Apple, so there may be issues. Simply avoid upgrading to QuickTime 7.5.5, and you should be fine.
And, from what I have heard there will be a QuickTime 7.6 update which will fix the Media 100 codec problems.

Actually this sounds like another hardware problem. Have you removed the P6000 card again and checked the connections between the FireWire daughter card and the P6000 board? Are you sure that you have put the P6000 card in the correct PCI slot for the computer you are using?

Have a look at the HDLink configuration app. As far as I can remember you can swtich the view mode to Widescreen in the app. There is no such thing as a widescreen flag in the SDI signal, so you need to switch your monitor (in this case your HDLink app) between 4:3 and 16:9 manually.

First, did you install the newest AE Importer plugin? Copy the AE_XML_Project_Importer.bundle from your Media 100->Adobe AfterEffects Plugin folder into Adobe AfterEffects CS3->PlugIns->Format, and replace the older copy that may be there.
Second, there is a bug that in some cases does not export the XMLs correctly. One thing you can try (in case it does work on your timeline) is to move your clips to Va, or to extend your outgoing clip on Va into the incoming clip on Vb. As far as I know this is something that is very likely to get fixed in an upcoming version of Media 100.

I am not sure if V12.1.3 does run on 10.5.5, never tried it. But this could be the cause of your problem. Also, I think it would be a good idea to have a folder on Media 100s FTP server where old versions are stored, in case somebody needs to reinstall an older copy of Media 100 Producer or Suite. Maybe Wick can do something like this…

[Todd Bunnell] “Yes, I have other QT plug-ins installed namely the Flip 4 Mac WMV conversion plug-in. Since downgrading from QT 7.5.5 to WT 7.5, I too have experienced problems with the Media 100. Either it says, “bad video frame” when I play the video in the Media100 window, or I have problems exporting a QuickTime movie without dropped or “black” frames. Any ideas what to do about this problem? Thanks for your help.

Sounds like your downgrade did not work correctly. I would suggest trying it again. The “bad video frame” message comes from QuickTime 7.5.5 -
I was wondering what kind of problem you were seeing. But I imported it, and it only looks bad if it is on a single-field display for me. If you switch to full frame view (Tools->Stop Mode->Display both fields) it looks fine on my CRT.
