This sounds like another QuickTime 7.5.5 victim. QuickTime 7.5.5 is NOT compatible with Media 100, since Apple broke the MJPEG B codec, which is the base of the Media 100 i codec with this update. QuickTime 7.6 is supposed to fix that (whenever that gets released). If you search through this forum, you will find a step-by-step explanation how to downgrade from QuickTime 7.5.5 to QuickTime 7.5.

This has nothing to do with the current issue (Apple broke the MJPEG B Codec in QuickTime 7.5.5).

Have a look at the Media 100 FTP server.
Most likely you will find the iFinish Transcoder in the iFinish folder. Not sure if it works with a recent QuickTime/PC version -

Then you definitely should get in touch with Aja. They are said to react very quickly and do send advance exchange boards. Hopefully you will be back in business soon…

Did you run the Media 100 hardware test? It could be the case that your Media 100 board starts to fail. Or maybe the PCI controller of your Computer, or…
Can you tell us what the exact error message is you are getting? -

As far as I know Apple acknowledges the problem, and I would guess that the next major update (like QuickTime 7.6 or so) should fix it. Some additional feedback to Apple about this problem can cause no damage, though.

Come on, we are speaking about Apple 😉 You would not expect them to even tell you what time it is, let alone to speak about “unannounced products”. One thing you should keep in mind is that while the MJPEG B codec and with it the Media 100 i codec is broken in QuickTime 7.5.5 (and 7.5.7), all the other codecs in Media 100 still do work. So if you are working in DV, ProRes or any other supported codec, you won´t see the problem. OF course most of us have some amounts of legacy material in the Media 100 i codec, and we all are looking forward to a solution to this problem (and the Media 100 guys did push Apple to work on this). I think currently the best way would be to downgrade QuickTime (as long as you don´t want to buy movies from the iTunes store), but I am somewhat confident that Apple will release a fix for our problems in the next months.

This sounds as you have been catched by the QuickTime 7.5.5 bug. You should check if you are running QuickTime 7.5.5 on your system. If yes, you need to downgrade to QuickTime 7.5 (search this forum for instructions on how to downgrade). QuickTime 7.5.5 unfortunately broke the MJPEG B Codec and with that the Media 100 i codec. Either you have to downgrade, or to wait for an updated version of QuickTime with a fix to this problem.

To me this sounds as if your Kona board just broke. Depending on where you bought it you should either get in touch with Aja support or with Media 100 (although Wick probably is already looking into it). From what I heard Aja techsupport is said to be very good and quick with these hardware issues; if you get your board exchanged you should keep in mind that you most likely need a new Media 100 encryption code for the new board; you can test it with the 14day trial, though.

Some additional random ideas:
Do you have anything else in the MacPro, either another PCI card (except the graphics card) or 3rd party RAM? Try removing this.
Do you use the correct slot for the card?
Did you try resetting the Parameter RAM CMD-Opt-P-R during startup)?
Of course it can be the case that the board is bad. Is this a new board, or did you use it somewhere before? Do you have another Mac to test the board? -

Only two ideas: either wait for the next Quicktime update (whenever this may arrive) and hopefully a fix for the MJPEG B codec problem, or reinstall your OS and upgrade only to QuickTime 7.5. Not sure what the cause for your redraw problem could be.
