You need to set this up in the Aja Kona control panel.
Set your primary format to the format of your timeline (e.g. 1080i29.97).
Set your secondary format to the format you want to output (e.g. 525i29.97)
Then set your Digital or Analog outputs to the Secondary format, and you should be good to go.

There are several points where this issue could come from.

First, how is this Raid connected? I guess since you are using a G5 with Media 100, you are working with a Expansion Chassis, in which the P6000 board is located. And your SCSI card is probably also in the expansion chassis? Where is the card that connects to the RAID?
Then, are you rendering from AE directly into the Media 100 codec? If yes, try limiting the data rate (in the AE output module->Format Options), e.g. to 8000KB/s, and turn off Lossless compression.
Does “regular” video material digitized to the RAID play back correctly? Mabye there is some sort of performance problem or misconfiguration with the setup.

The question is how you are going to DigiBeta. From FCP? Avid? A new Media 100 system? Deinterlacing does not make sense if you are going back to tape, but you need to keep the field order correctly. If you are going to a Apple codec you definitely should use the Computer (0-255) export option.

Basically your idea is good. I would digitize in 44.1kHz directly for CD use, so that you don´t need to convert from 48kHz to 44.1 when burning to CD. Export as stereo AIFF files (in 44.1kHz) from your Media 100 timeline, and you are good to go.

Or you can use more or less every sound application for this work, like the free Audacity, GarageBand, Soundtrack or even QuickTime Player. The Media 100 audio inputs are most likely the ones with a higher audio quality than the Mac Line inputs, but since you are coming from Cassette tapes audio quality is not the best, anyway.

I think this configuration has not been tested, but I would expect that it is going to work fine.

can you reproduce this problem on your timeline (meaning if you do the steps described above, does the problem show up again)? Maybe with a backup copy from the backup folder from a time before you did this? If so, please send the timeline to me.

I never saw this happen with V13. Can you describe step by step what you did? Or even better, can you upload or mail me a timeline (without the media files) and a step by step description on how to make this happen?

If the Mac “sees” the deck (e.g. in iMovie), you have connected it to the FireWire port on your Mac. You need to connect it to the FireWire Port of your P6000 board to use it in Media 100 i.

Jim,

is it correct that you get a “spinning beachball” cursor during acquire, and that the tape continues to move while the status bar (or TC) freezes during acquire? Or do you get a crash/unexpectedly quit of the application?
First thing you should check is if the downgrade to QuickTime 7.5 was successful. Open QuickTime player to see if it reads QuickTime 7.5 under the About QuickTime Player window.
Then, if you are in fact running QuickTime 7.5 and the latest OS version, it is very likely that you run into a bug that Apple introduced in some PPC code in one of the latest OSX updates (not sure where it started); so this bug is not really related to V13, as far as I can tell, but should happen on V12.7 with the same OS version as well. I guess you did update your OSX version along with V13, didn´t you?
If you are under a tight deadline I would suggest that you contact me directly to discuss this further, or that you get in touch with Media 100 support and mention this PPC problem.

I have an idea, but I need some additional details first. What CPU, OS version and Media100 card are you using? And what kind of storage and which codec do you use?
