    Hello M1oo gurus!
We have a project, created in 8.1 xs back in 03. What’s the best way to export it, so it can be brought up in modern world environment and eventually output to digibeta in a post house? We tried export as QT movie with best settings. However, it opens on G5 and macpro seriously distorted – black level was way up, banding, etc. We also tried to export it as a self-contained movie, it only took 11GB for a 48′ program, and also looked way worse than when opened in native M100 8.1 .

    Thanks,

    Vic

You might try exporting in another codec where you can alter more settings

    Media100 Export
    range or program
    Other
    Field dominance: progressive
    Colour Range – 0-255

    Options

    Settings
Compression type: none, motion jpeg A or Media100HD (animation sometimes introduces jitter)

    Motion
    Frame rate: 29.97
Key frame: 300 frames (or blank – when compression is set for

    Compressor :
    Millions of colours plus
    Quality – best

    Size:
    Compressor native
    check Deinterlace Source Video

    Prepare for internet streaming
    uncheck fast start for

This is how I prepare segments for web streaming. Hopefully it might give you an idea on how to proceed. Often the Motion jpeg-a or animation codec work best.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Thank you. We’ve downloaded trial producer 13.0 to be able to export it out of later version of M100, with more options to export. So, you suggest to export interlaced Betacam SP video with lower field dominating as progressive and then deinterlace it? Our final destination will be Digital Betacam.

    Thanks,

The question is how you are going to DigiBeta. From FCP? Avid? A new Media 100 system? Deinterlacing does not make sense if you are going back to tape, but you need to keep the field order correctly. If you are going to a Apple codec you definitely should use the Computer (0-255) export option.

    Hello Floh,

Since we don’t own a digibeta deck, the most economical way to output it is to export a QT movie and drop it off at the dub house. So what would be the best way to export it? We got producer 13 trial version for several more days. The dubhouse suggested uncompressed at least 10 bit 48k.
    Thanks a lot,
    V.

We just exported and it gave weird green line at the very top of the screen for every single title card… is that 720×486 issue?

    Many thanks,
    V.
