I recommend reinstalling Media 100. Do you have an installer of your version? If not, I think the Media100 guys can provide one for your software version, in case you don´t want to move to the newest one (depending on your OS and hardware).

  • [John Weber] “And the t-tap connected monitor will be recognized by Media 100 as an output video choice?”

    Yes

  • The Aja T-Tap would be a SDI/HDMI out only Thunderbolt adapter. Or any Aja or Blackmagic card, depending on your connection needs. We use various Aja cards that work very reliably. Kona LHe+ would be the cheapest option there.

Have you tried deleting the preferences? (YourHD->Users->YourHomeFolder->Library->Preferences)? You can also reach it by using the Finders “Go” menu and holding the option Key. Then your Library folder, which is usually hidden, will show up in the menu.

Again, this only works if your partner has a copy of the footage after it has been imported to Media 100. But then you can locate the Bins and Program Documents in the Finder, and simply copy (or send by email or Dropbox or…) to him. If he has the footage (in the same state as you have) he can open the Program document, and it will relink to his copy of the footage.

When you say export, which format do you want to export to? XML for AE? XML for FCP? Something else?

[Todd McMullen] “I have the same material on two different hard dives and I can’t seem to get the MacBook to recognize project.”

How was your material created? Did you make the copy of the media before or after importing/ingesting it into Media 100? When a media file gets imported into Media 100, a ID is written into the QuickTime header to make sure you always link to the right file even if you have multiple files with the same name on your drives. So if you copied the files before importing them into Media 100, your copied files will not have this ID, and therefore Media 100 will not relink to them.
Importing the copied files again into Media 100 will create a different ID inside the files, so this does not solve the relink problem. So ideally you have a copy of your media files on the 2nd HD after they have been imported into Media 100 (assuming you have imported the files in the first step)

So, there should be no Media 100 preferences in YourHD->Library->Preferences. But there should be files in YourHD->Users->YourHomeFolder->Library->Preferences. This Library folder is usually hidden on newer OS versions. You can access it by holding the Option key and opening the “Go To” Menu of the Finder. There your Library folder will show up as long as you keep holding the option key.

Delete the Media 100 Preferences from this folder and try again to launch the app. New pref files will be written on app startup.

[Will Spencer] “To uninstall I used the M100 uninstaller. Do you know of any other files that I may have to remove manually. I thought maybe if I took everything off and tried again it might work.”

Hmmm, Media 100 Suite 2.1.6 works fine on 10.10.4 on my systems.

You could delete the Preferences from HD->YourHomeFolder->Library->Preferences->Media 100 Suite Preferences

[Brian Groves] ” but perhaps add a step to boost and normalize the audio as a final step.

Does this “sound” correct? Pun intended.

Yes. But YouTube is pretty good at normalizing your audio anyway in my experience, so you don´t have to do that (I guess the videos you uploaded to YouTube are okay so far).
