  • A good way would be to create a “music” project and bin. If you import the music in this project the media files will sit in the Music project media folder. If you open the bin in one of your work projects the files will relink, but if you delete your media folder from the work project the music files will stay on the HD in their project media folder.

The Transcoder is the old “half” codec. It only allows to read Media 100 i files, and it does not support alpha channels.

In PhotoShop, create a new document at your desired resolution in RGB. Fill the whole image with black.
Now in the Channel Palette, create a new channel with the little button at the bottom. Fill the whole new alpha channel with white, and then create a mask at the 16:9 area, and fill that with black. Save file e.g. as Pict with Alpha channel at 32 bit. Import this in Media 100, place it on a graphics track and you are done.

For us Media 100 i V8.2.2 has been running nicely with OSX 10.3.8 and 10.3.9, so there should be no reason not to upgrade to V8.2.2 and 10.3.9

Yes, this is a known problem, probably related to trimming clips in the timeline. The problem with it is that it is not easy to reproduce, it will simply happen random during editing. I think this probably is going to be fixed in the next release.

You definitely should use Compressor. Install the software codec and then follow the directions of this document. You don

  • So, now the question becomes how to replace what’s missing, namely the P600 board on a magma chassis. Should I wait for the SW official release? Will that mean using other boards instead of Media 100 hardware? Or do I drop the bigger change for the HD version? Any thoughts appreciated.

Definitely the full sw version will not work with 3rd party boards, only FireWire I/O. But I would recommend getting a full HD system, then you get (nearly) all the I/O you had with Media 100 i plus all the realtime power of sw. Nice combination 🙂

The extension should be .mp4 I think.
