Scott Stankey:If I use my XR system and capture lossless on to my RAID box, can i then unplug my RAID box and hook it to my HD system and use the project media folder to edit?

Yes, no problem with that. All clips, timelines, bins media files and projects are forward compatible to HD; but you cannot open timelines from HD in Media 100 i.

  • If you are comparing sw to Media 100 i I think you are really missing something. When comparing to Media 100 HD you are right, the functionality is mainly the same without hardware support.

One of the main features of HD and sw is the fact that you have up to 99 video layers (the V1-V99 layers, named “Video Composition Tracks”). You can drop video clips in there (with or without alpha) and they play back in realtime with opacity settings, some effects, chroma/alpha keyer,…
And renderings (Boris, Graffiti,…) should be much faster than in Media 100 i, since they don

You can do it with the “Style” palette. First set up a title as you need it. Open the style palette, create a new group and add the current style to this group.

(I think there is a bug in Boris not saving your new styles where they belong. Exit Boris, search for the folder where your new style group has been saved, search for another, already existing style group and move your new style group into that folder.)

Now open up the next title, select your text and apply the style to the text. Make sure that you are replacing all the style informations by selecting all the checkboxes you need.

Dual 2GHz should give you quite a lot of realtime performance. Are you sure your drives are fast enough to play back the clips?

It seems like FCP does not write valid QuickTime/DV files when digitizing; maybe this is related to how these clips get acquired. I

It is 3.02 and not 3.2. Next version is 4, shown at NAB and included with the Media 100 sw download.

What do you mean with “out of sync”? In AE? Or when rendering out from AE? Do the clips stay in sync in QuickTime player? Are they drifting, or are they a fixed amount of frames off? A little more detail could really help here.
