[Michael Todd Thorpe] “m not even sure anything like this would work on M100i, but I’ve been asked to cut hardware scopes out of the budget for one of my edit bays and I’m looking for an alternative.”

There is none. Buy a good hardware based waveform/vectorscope (including gamut error warnings) and be safe for everything broadcasters will throw at you.

Inside Media 100 i you can only have native PAL or NTSC media files. If something is shot at 24p and played out by a deck via SDI or analog to Media 100 i it gets converted in PAL or NTSC format with interpolated frames to match the 60i format.
If you export that from Media 100 i by ref or as a pict sequence you still will have a “standard” NTSC clip, and if you modify it in AE you have to render out a NTSC clip as always.

[jimmy mac] “I know that I need to purchase the expansion chassis, but would like to know of other’s experience with it. My G5 has PCI-X slots…does the chassis fit this? I “

You need the expansion chassis because the P6000 board does not fit into a PCI-X slot. The expansion chassis cards do fit in there. The Dual2GHz is tested by Media 100 for use with expansion chassis and V8.2.2. Look at the CPG for more informations.

[jimmy mac] “I have looked at the M100 SW version, but I like the old interface better, …”

The interface of Media 100 i V8.2.2, Media 100 HD and Media 100 sw are identical, only with additional features included in sw and HD.

Most likely this is because you have installed a damaged font. Graffiti is very picky about that. Remove the fonts from YourHomeFolder->Library->Fonts, YourHD->Library->Fonts and YourHD->System Folder->Fonts (OS9 system folder) and try if Boris launches correctly. If yes put back the fonts in small sets to identify the bad one.

I think it is an hardware problem, but most likely not a damaged P6000 card. Do you have a Lossless capable P6000? There can be problems with non-lossless capable P6000 boards in a G5/chassis configuration. Are your boards placed as described in the CPG? Do you have a matching QT/OS combination? What kind of drives do you use (SCSI? FireWire? FibreChannel?) Have you installed the latest drivers for your storage card? What chassis do you use?

This is working for Media files, not for Bins and Timelines/Programs.

Are you speaking about timeline and bin files in your Project window? If yes, simply delete them from the project window and re-open them from where they are. There is no magic in the project, but probably they don

Most likely the file structure on your HD was damaged. My first choice would be DiskWarrior to check the drive. This usually fixes this kind of problems. Norton DiskDoctor or TechTool could help also.
