There are no QX drivers for OSX, and there is no version of Premiere (which was used for QX) for OSX either. The latest version can be found on the Media 100 FTP-Server, but I don

Currently Media 100 HD and sw are Mac only, and as far as I know there are no current plans to change that.

[Jerome Robbins] “Is this possible to do in Media 100? or do you just put the chapter markers in once you get to the DVD authoring software?”

You can do both, either place your chapter marks in Media 100 i in the Marks tool and turn them on on export; then BitVice or Compressor will carry them over to DVDSP. Or set them in DVDSP.

[Robbie Leppzer] “(A few days ago, I installed Sorenson Squeeze and I made one test conversion and it worked pretty good. Could installing a new program have anything to do with the problem? Are there such things as conflicts in OS X?)”

Yes. Squeeze hooks into the QT framework, so it could be the reason. Try deinstalling Squeeze.

As another option, you could create a new user account and start Media 100 i from this one. Something is wrong with your QuickTime installation/version/prefs/whatever, so maybe a “clean” user won

November 2, 2005 at 8:38 pm in reply to: 4:3 to HD ?

[Al J. Marschke] “What does the Media 100HD do with SD video that is native 4:3 when it converts it to HD? Does it stretch it or leave it 4:3 with black edges?”

You have various options, either to stretch it, to pillarbox it (black bars left and right), to crop it (to use only a part of the image) or to combine these commands.

[Al J. Marschke] “Also, does it do this in real time? As soon as I capture it can I play it right out to a HD source?”

Yes, either on digitizing or on output. You have to decide if you want to capture in HD (you will need fast and big storage) or to work in SD (compressed or uncompressed) and to output HD with the above options simultaneously to SD and HD.

If you select the crop tool, you have the option to crop in a fixed aspect ratio in the tool bar under the menu bar.
The other option would be to create a 720*486 D1/NTSC document and to copy your photo into it. This will take care of the pixel aspect ratio, and then you can transform the image proportionally (CMD-T and pressing shift while dragging an edge) to match the part of the image you do need.

The download is currently not available while the Media 100 and Boris thing is going through, but I guess it will be up again in the next couple of days.
