It all depends on what you

[Sean Cole] “Yeah, I was still getting this when I removed the extra ram we have down to the 2gig recomended. (Floh, Why is there a 2gig limit on the program? What are the issues with this?).”

As far as I know there are no issues, it simply has not been tested with more than 2GB. Probably it does not make a difference at all.

[Sean Cole] “I will try and keep you posted. Where are the logs held so we can look at what is going on? I could send these on if it happens again”

There are Crash Logs in the Console (in Applications->Utilities), but they tend to be not very helpful on memory leaks.

[macmauro] “a rendering effect that now takes 45 min. by software how much it will take by RealTimeFX?”

45 Minutes. The HDRFX/realtime effects board only does play back the “FastFX” in realtime. On the systems without the HDRFX board FastFX are only played back without fields, looking somewhat jittery. With the HDRFX board these effects can be played back with full resolution and both fields. But for processor-based effects (like Red or non-FastFX) there is no change in the rendering time.

[Sean Cole] ” Only another 56 to remake. Joy!”

You also could do this effect in BorisFX or Red easily, which should render correctly. Probably not very helpful if you already set up all the transitions 🙁

Obviously this is a bug. You definitely should report it to Media 100, and I hope that it gets fixed in the next release. Right now the only solution I can give you is either not to render these FastFX, or if you need to render it to swap the clips. Create your transition as needed, split the incoming and outgoing clips at the start and end of the transition, select both clips during the transition and swap them on the A/B tracks. Apply your transition again, and while it now will be wrong when realtime it will render correctly.

[andy stinton] “Floh Correct me if I’m wrong but Media 100 HD does not offer Firewire I/O .This to me makes no sense and probaly the only reason that I’m not going to purchase that product.”

    Andy,

right now neither sw nor HD are using FireWire I/O. But once the FW I/O for sw is finished there is no reason not to use the same technology in HD also. The application is more or less the same, and I would be very surprised if this feature which took some time to develop and would help many Media 100 HD users would not be implemented in a new version of HD also.

Which SCSI card are you using? Are you sure it is compatible with 10.4.x? Try digitizing on the system drive and see if that works. If yes, either get a new SCSI card, FireWire or SATA drives or go back to 10.3.9.
