Yes, most likely this is due to the difference of watching material on a progressive screen vs. interlaced. Make sure your AE comp matches your Media 100 project resolution (e.g. 720*486), and render it in the proper field order for your resolution.

And if you import something from AE into Media 100 all levels above RGB235 and below RGB 16 will be clipped (on component out) or go into superwhite and superblack (on SDI out). To compensate this, put on top of your AE comp an andjustment layer with a “Levels” filter and set output black to 16 and output white to 235.

Have you tried the Graffiti 2.1.2 updater that can be downloaded here (at the bottom of the page)? And what does happen if you start Graffiti without Media 100 (in Applications->Boris Graffiti)? Usually Graffiti tends to crash if you have a bad font in your system, but then the Graffiti keyframer will also crash when launched from the Finder.
And there is a “Boris Font Cache” file in your Preferences folder. Delete this also, maybe this got corrupted.

I would try to find out if this is a Media 100 related problem at all, or if the card simply does not work under OS9. Turn off the Media 100 extensions in Extension Manager and remove the Media 100 board(s), and try to boot then. I guess the system will not boot…

The exchange between Media 100 sw and HD is without any problems. You can move timelines, bins, programs, projects and media files from HD to sw and back without a problem. I do that on a nearly daily basis when editing on my laptop at home.

There was a bug in media file exchange between Media 100 sw/Media 100 HD on the one side and Media 100 i on the other side. Files exported by Media 100 sw or Media 100 HD in the Media 100 i codec were not fast imported by Media 100 i. Media 100 i had to rerender the files which took some time, depending on the clip length. This should be fixed with V8.2.3

This is supposed to work this way. Either you digitize “on the fly”, playing back the tape first and pressing period (or the “start” button) then to start digitizing, or you set a mark in and out in the edit suite and use the “digitize” button in the extended Edit suite window. Then the deck will cue to the mark in, digitize from there and stop after reaching the mark out.
