[jeremyR] “So to create a master audio clip, would I have to render the audio out the import it and then put it into the timeline?”

No, in your timeline there is a “Bus” track at the bottom. If you Command-Click and drag there you create a “Master Audio” clip, which is used for Master Audio effects (audio effects that apply to your mix instead of to single clips/tracks). For this master audio clip you can adjust the settings as you can for individual clips on your timeline.

Set up AEs comp as PAL or NTSC widescreen (720*576 or 720*486). Render out into the Media 100 720 codec as usual. When importing into Media 100, make sure that in the import window you set these clips as widescreen (16/9).

This sounds like you really need some audio advice. First thing is probably to apply a compressor to your talent audio clips. Most of the times it already helps a lot in its default settings. You can tweak the ratio and the Threshold to boost the voice even more.
And you should apply a limiter to your Master audio track to make sure that your levels don

March 16, 2007 at 5:32 pm in reply to: A/V Sync issues during playback

Ummm, the question is how your “Sync audio to” setting is set in the Audio Output prefs. The hardware up- and downconversion from HD to SD and vice versa takes some time. Therefore not all outputs and settings are in the same “sync”. E.g. if you upconvert a SD timeline to HD during playback the upconversion will introduce a delay of 3 frames (I think it was 3 frames on HDx, not sure if it is the same on Aja). So if you monitor an SD timeline on a SD monitor connected to SD SDI out and on a HD monitor connected to the HD SDI out you will see that the HD monitor will be 3 frames later.
Therefore the computer needs to know which your “main” monitor is that gets synced with the audio. This can be done in the “Audio Output” pref by selecting the correct video out under “Sync Audio to”.
I am not really sure if this is the problem you are seeing, but this is the first thing to check.

  • [JackAttack] “Have you tried simply re-naming the actual media clip (on the drives you capture your media to)? First, find your digitized clip – in your bin, highlight the clip and select “Show Source Media in Finder.” Once the clip is located on your hard drive, SHUT DOWN Media 100. Then, simply re-name that source media file.”

Um, actually if you want to reacquire parts or the whole program I would HIGHLY recommend not to rename clips (in fact I would never recommend renaming clips used in Media 100 as long as you still want to use them; once renamed Media 100 will not relink to those files).
What we tend to do is to move all “offline HD” footage to another folder on your Video HD. Make sure that the “Auto Relink Media” pref is turned off. Now you can relink and unlink the files that are in your “offline media” folder by adding or removing this folder in your “Media Locations” window. This way you will keep all your bins and programs intact. In fact as soon as we reacquire something into “Uncompressed” we save the timeline under another name (with e.g. UC for uncompressed in the program name). Remove the “Offline” folder from the media locations for reacquire and add it after reacquire. Now your Uncompressed timeline will contain the reacquired version while your original timeline still will link back to the compressed version.
Not ideal, but it is a working workaround for this bug.

If the hardware test fails it usually is a hardware problem, not a software conflict. Do you have any other boards in the system (like a SCSI card)? If yes, try removing them and running the test again. Also reseat your P6000 board. If the test still fails chances are high that you have in fact a damaged board. Then you probably should get in contact with techsupport to explore your options there.

Did you run the hardware test? Does it run okay?
Also, V8.2.3a was never tested on 10.3.9 with QuickTime 7.1.5. So maybe there is a problem with this combo.
