You can’t.

VC did some behind the scenes programming in the plugin, because choosing a preset changes a lot of other parameters all over the plugin which keyframing or adding an expression to the “preset” parameter does not achieve. There’s probably a technical reason why they added a stopwatch to it, but it looks like a dummy parameter, just there so it can trigger some kind of script inside of the plugin.

If you want to control the preset, you’ll have to take note of what parameters were changed by the preset, and give each of those parameters an expression.

A url cannot contain any spaces, so in essence it is a “word”, with some whitespace characters before and after it.

Set your Expression selector to be based on words, and use this code:

words = text.sourceText.split(/\s+/);
word = words[textIndex-1];
word.startsWith("https://") ? 100 : 0;

Yes, this is relying on a specific quirk, that if you switch to a font that does not contain certain Unicode characters in the sourcetext, it keeps those characters in the previous font that did contain them. The same happens when you edit the font manually.

This doesn’t help in choosing two different Chinese or two different Latin fonts though.

Yes, that’s true: I didn’t account for the fact the individual layers were animating.

Dan’s expressions should work for 2D, but I’m not sure if they work with loopIn().

With my method, you can have horizontal (width of your text-box) and vertical (max pixels-height slider) fitting with word-wrapping.

It is a bit slower to calculate though.

The easiest fix is to precompose leader and followers and timeremap this to achieve the looping and stopping.
