Solved, thank you. Following your instruction I tried drawing the bezier line, then change the position to origin in the transform pane, and then adjusting the control points to fit the line were I wanted it to be. Before I was just drawing the line in place without caring for the position shown in the transform pane, so when I used the line as a source geometry for the arrow the actual path was offset. Everything works great now.

One last question, if you don’t mind: why the arrows do not follow the bezier path, but have some variable offset on the vertical axis?

That card was not available at the moment, so I did not order it. I installed a SSD drive in the optical bay, and a cheap USB3 card, and I bought a couple of USB3 two drives boxes. The internal RAID I use for editing is fast enough for my purposes. I sync the events RAID set on an external 4Tb drive, and I backup/archive on other external RAID1 or RAID0 two drives sets. I am very happy with my machine. I am sure it will continue to allow me working for another year or more without a hitch.

So my question is in the subject heading. Is the .mov I create on my desktop still in PAL? I can’t tell.”It should be if the project is PAL and you exported using a PAL preset. However you can double check. You can import the .mov file into an event (you can skip copying the file to the event location on the drive if it is for double checking only). Then highlight it in the event browser, open the inspector window and select “settings view”. It it is labeled as 25fps in the top left field, it’s PAL.

The Lacie is much cheaper, about 190,00 Euros here in Italy (but you should find it at least 20% cheaper there).

My experience with FCPX has been almost flawless about stability issues or bug. Not that I haven’t stepped into one or two weird behaviors any now and then, but nothing really boring. So what I’d like to see is:
– an option for trimming clips when duplicating a project for archive
– an option for selecting “original media only” when duplicating a project for archive so that I don’t have to delete the transcoded ones from the current project or to delete them after the duplication.
– an option to name the clips on import with a name that is somehow meaningful. It’s true that the actual naming discourages actions from the finder, but I wish I could name them so that I can easily recognize clips for use in other applications, so that the name stays with the original media, not only within the event browser.
– ability to fill notes and comments fields to multiple clips in the inspector that will be retained in the events browser.
– a “select forward” command, so that I can use the position tool to slide all the timeline forward without having to change the timeline zoom and select all the clips with the mouse.
– change the “scale” indication so that it reflects the actual size. If I put a large graphic onto a 1080 timeline, it will be adapted to fit and be shown as 100%, while it isn’t. I’d rather have it shown as it really is, so that I know how much I’m pushing a zoom in.
– ability of disconnecting drives containing events from within FCPX

As long as you find somebody wanting to pay more money for something they might even not be able to broadcast just because it’s been produced with something prosumers couldn’t afford to buy. The satellite channel I produce contents for, which belongs to the most important broadcast platform here, still receives SD IMX file delivery. And if it were HD if would not be 4k or 3D. And this for a long time to come. They buy contents from me, in form of about 12 to 15 26′ documentaries per year that are broadcast here and sold in other countries, and allow me to feed and raise my three sons with my work, because the product I delivery has a more interesting content and a better look than what people can find free on the internet. And I work in a field where you can find a lot on youtube or vimeo. They don’t care much about where, how or what I work with as long as my videos pass editorial and technical QC and receive great feedback from people paying the yearly subscription. I see a lot of flavors in the video content production professional area, ranging from the large production house to the event videographer, maybe it’s not so easy to say what’s right or wrong for all.

If the two PCIe slots and that couple of esata ports were present on the new MP, I’d have probably added a couple of fake external boxes with cables just the same. I love the effect they have on those amateurs 🙂

Indeed. But personally speaking I don’t see it as an all or nothing question. I mean, I’ll be very happy to get the most powerful Mac ever once it’s available. Only, I would have been even happier if it came with a couple of PCIe slots to move the e-sata and the real time HD output card I already own, plus some internal storage.
