  • Hey Malique! One easy way to solve this 100% is to restore your Windows system to a previous image, usually there is a bunch of restore points dates 1-2weeks in the past, try reverting your system to one of those and the issue should go away forever or almost.

    hey man! no panic, so from what i see, your setup is correct for AE’s limits.

    The artifacts are engine limitations. Clean, believable animated shadows require an external 3D renderer.

    What actually works in After Effects:

    Use Environment Light only for ambient fill (low intensity).

    Add one or more explicit Spot / Parallel Lights for shadows. These produce stable, directional shadows.

    Use one single shadow catcher aligned to the table. Enable:

    Accepts Shadows: ON

    Accepts Lights: OFF

    Increase:

    Light Shadow Map Resolution

    Light Shadow Softness slightly

    Comp bit depth to 16/32 bpc

    Disable Cast Shadows on any non-essential meshes to avoid doubles.

    Avoid animated GLB shadows entirely when possible.

    Best-practice pipeline (industry reality)

    Render creatures + shadows in Blender / C4D with proper HDRI + key light.

    Export beauty + shadow pass.

    Composite in AE with Multiply/Add.

    AE is not a reliable final-lighting solution for animated 3D contact shadows.

  • hey bro! so what’s happening is that your <strong data-start=”133″ data-end=”148″ style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>RAM preview is effectively showing the layer at <strong data-start=”185″ data-end=”209″ style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>full comp resolution, with AE being permissive about sub-pixel alignment. we need to avoid that.

    simply paste this expression the position of the animated layer/properties so that it forces them to only have round numbers:

    [Math.round(value[0]), Math.round(value[1])]

    lemme prepare a little bullet list of optional additional fixes in case you need to escalate:

    <b data-start=”1321″ data-end=”1364″>Disable sub-pixel sampling globally

    <ul data-start=”1365″ data-end=”1545″>

  • <strong data-start=”1367″ data-end=”1391″>Layer Quality: Draft

  • <strong data-start=”1394″ data-end=”1421″>Comp Viewer: Fast Draft

  • <strong data-start=”1424″ data-end=”1486″>Project Settings → Video Rendering → Mercury Software Only<br data-start=”1486″ data-end=”1489″> (GPU acceleration can introduce sub-pixel interpolation)

  • <b data-start=”1547″ data-end=”1576″> Disable linearization

    <ul data-start=”1577″ data-end=”1697″>

  • <strong data-start=”1579″ data-end=”1637″>Project Settings → Color → Linearize Working Space OFF
    Linear color math causes edge blending on hard pixel edges.

  • <b data-start=”1699″ data-end=”1749″>Match comp resolution to native pixel grid

    <ul data-start=”1750″ data-end=”1913″>

  • Comp size must be an <strong data-start=”1773″ data-end=”1799″>exact integer multiple of the pixel art’s base resolution.

  • No odd scaling ratios like 150%, 133.33%, etc.

  • Use 100%, 200%, 300% only.

  • <b data-start=”1915″ data-end=”1944″>Final render settings

    <ul data-start=”1945″ data-end=”2091″>

  • <strong data-start=”1947″ data-end=”1965″>Render at Full

  • <strong data-start=”1968″ data-end=”1990″>No resizing in AME

  • <strong data-start=”1993″ data-end=”2024″>No scaling in output module

  • Avoid formats that internally resample (some H.264 profiles do)

    hope that helps bro!

    yo Jeff! i’ve recorded a custom tutorial with the solution that will push you in the right direction. I hope you like it! 🔥

  • Hey Anthony! Please, upload the video as an unlisted Youtube link, i’ll be very happy to provide a full solution after i watch your video, talk soon

  • no panic! as i told in the video, my template works for 1 line at a time, meaning for each line, simply duplicate the entire comp “line1” and it will create a “line2”, so you can customize each line indipendently, then simply drag each “line” comp into a main timeline and arrange each line in the y order you prefer and delay them in time if needed!

  • yo Aurora i fully coded and created a template in AEP format for you to use that is multiple-font-type-aware, have fun! Hope you like it 🔥

    Yo Luke, don’t panic, I created the full template for you, easy to use.

    Watch the tutorial here, have a nice day bro, lemme know if you’re slightly happier 🔥

    hey bro! let’s solve this; send me an equivalent stock footage i can use to record a tutorial for you using a method you won’t find on youtube which works incredibly good for these things!

    talk soon!
