    Hi Charlie,

    Ok….that kind of explains it…..

Once I have the D5 master for this project, we will be making HDcam dubs at a dub house for screening at film festivals (digital projection). Given that, should we be using PsF? Also, when we make the HDcam dubs, should we tell the dub house to make PsF or 1080P HDCAM masters (for digital projection in theatres)?

    Thanks….

    Thanks Charlie…..

    That helps me somewhat……

Also…..do you know the difference between 23.98P and PsF?

I also have the option on the D5 deck of choosing 23.98P or PsF….not sure which one I should be using….

    Hey,

    Thanks for responding……

But I’m still not sure what I should be doing…..

I need to provide the audio mixer with an OMF and quicktime (I know how to make these but need to know what frame rates and settings my sequences should be set to).

When I get the audio back I need to match it to picture and put it on Digibeta (through SDI with a KONA).

The footage was shot 24p Advanced and edited in a 23.98 timeline. When I check the info on the clips in FCP it says TC rate 30fps. However when I open the clips in quicktime and check the info it says 23.98fps. I am presuming that quicktime is able to understand the pulldown and interpret the clips as 23.98, even though they really still exist as 29.97?

    Thanks….

    Hi Dave,

    Thanks for the response.

    1. Yes….the audio mixer can deal with 23.98 or 29.97.

    2. I didn’t do the original capturing, but when I get the information on the clips, it says ‘TC Rate 30’. However the sequence was edited in a 23.98 timeline. Playback looks fine on both computer and video monitors.

I believe the video clips still have all the information (all 29.97 frames), but that FCP is removing them on the fly for playback. At least that is my understanding.

Can you enlighten me any further on the correct workflow given this information?

    Thanks again,

    Ewoo
