DV 24p questions….
I have a sequence with DV 24p Advanced footage in it.
I need to make a digibeta master for a festival screening.
Prior to this the sound will be mixed in Pro-Tools by a mixer / designer.
I need to provide the mixer with an OMF and a quicktime of the movie with timecode burnt in.
He will mix the sound and then provide AIFF files for me to sync back to the picture before output to digibeta.
The editing timebase of my FCP sequence says “23.98”. The TC rate of my clips is “30”.
I presume that the Pro-Tools work will need to happen in 29.97 so that the sound will go back to digibeta correctly (digibeta being a 29.97 format only).
Do I need to put my sound into a 29.97 sequence prior to making the OMF?
Do I need to put my picture into a 29.97 sequence prior to making the quicktime with burnt in timecode for the mixer?
When I receive the audio back should I put it into a duplicate of the original sequence (editing timebase (23.98) or into a 29.97 sequence?
I think I understand most aspects of DV 24p (it is actually on 29.97 but then certain frames are thrown away on playback to achieve 24p). However this sound process has left me a little uncertain as to what to do.
Thanks in advance,
Ewoo
