Use broadcast safe filter. If you need to fix footage in regard to color/exposure use filters for color correction. There is no need for guesswork – use scopes to read and analyze data from footage to make informed decisions.

1 Negative, stay where you are.
2 Negative, PAL is always interlaced. DVCAM tape is always interlaced.
3 Negative, see above. Consult your broadcast company. I’m sure they’d accept only interlaced PAL material.

Edit in original format, i.e. 1080i. I suppose your scans are of 2k resolution? You might need to perform some pan&scan further in edit process to combine 1,85(2,40) aspect footage from 16mm with 1,78 footage from HD. So far the best codec to use in FCP7 is ProRes. If you plan only to output for DVD, I suggest you stick with ProRes 422 HQ. Though, if some other options should’ve presented themselves in the future you can use ultimate weapon, namely ProRes 4444. It’ll suffice if you decide to go with film print medium.

Superimpose multiclip, change angle, select both clips, right-click and choose collapse multiclip command.

You tend to overestimate the mightiness of Apple: With clean install you are totally free to choose any OS given you’re aware of some limitations. In theory, if you have Intel-based mac you can move backward into the past as far as Tiger. No big deal.

You’ve been pointed in right direction. You can’t use three displays w/ single video card. You can use either two mini ports simultaneously or alternatively mini port and dvi. To use third display you have to buy second video card.

I still don’t get it: Why would you like to use such outdated a file format on mac. If i had fat32 I’d either toss it right away or format into mac compatible type.
