    Hi..
I have bought a new MAC Pro 12 core machine. I wanted to use 3 Displays for my video editing work. AS of now I have got
    1. 1 Apple 27″ Cinema Display which uses mini display port
    2. 1 Dell Monitor 19″ with DVI Port
    3. 1 LG HD Screen for previewing videos.

Now on my graphics card it has 3 ports. 2 mini display ports and 1 Dvi port. I have got 1 mini display to HDMI convertor for me to connect on to my LG Screen.
So now when I connect all the 3 ports that is 1 mini display with Apple 27″ & 1 DVI for Dell monitor & 1 mini display to dvi convertor for LG screen then all the 3 doesn’t work.

Either of the 2 works… 1 minidisplay & minidisplay to hdmi works or 1 mini display & dvi works but all the 3 displays doesn’t work at a time. Kindly guide me how to get all the 3 displays working for the editing work.
    Thanks…

You’ve been pointed in right direction. You can’t use three displays w/ single video card. You can use either two mini ports simultaneously or alternatively mini port and dvi. To use third display you have to buy second video card.

Thanks but Apple says that you can use 3 screens together 2 mini displays and 1 dvi ports is used without any convertors attached to it. Which means if I use 2 Apple screens and 1 Television screen with a DVI Port it should work… Thats what they say… I haven’t tried though but will try soon.

Curious if you ever figured things out? I am currently in a similar situation and cant get things working.

    My setup-
    Mac Pro
    ATI Radeon HD 5870

Display 1 – DVI to DVI
Display 2 – Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort
Sony LCD TV – Mini DisplayPort to HDMI

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!
