this been said… having a 5,1 wich card should I pick? you didn’t mentioned the external Booster X5 450W for cards like 590. had you ever try it? or is a waist of time?

    so what card?

    thx for the quick r..

Juan, sorry for this question, but right now, having options available like the FSP Group Booster X5 450W to supply more power if this is really need it, and plenty of choises like 570/580-3gb/590/680-4gb wich card (if the money is no an issue) do you choose? for a 3,1 mac 2008. 16gb ram, SAS RAID, Davinci 9.3 in OSX 1.8.3 . I also have the 120gt and the Q4000. I want to go up in matter of playback in davinci when add some more nodes. My regular footage is Prores4444 hd and 2K.

I’m looking for the best choice, a wise investment. Or maybe you say: Evans.. wait a few months and try….I don’t know.

I saw a benchmark that shows that 580 beats the 680 in playback…so what to do??

best regards and thx in advance for your help

  • sorry Andrew, you mentioned “Standard EVGA 5903GB” was a mistake ? or I can actually use this 590 card? maybe I confuse but, when you say standard is a PC base? or non’overclocked? Just to understand: can I use a PC card without any modification and make it work with ML 1.8.3?

    thx

  • Thx Eric. I agree with you, that’s why I always wait a little bit until I have something in-between when a changing is coming up…
So do you think is better to go with the 580 or 570 but no the 680?

My real and eternal concern is the playback (with nodes)…as many here. So which one should I pick up?

    thanks for your response…

    FINALLY……!
the big problem was the method of clicking all movies I wished to apply and second when I first red the dwaine’s explanation, was the name of the window… I was looking for “clip details” and no for “Library Window” wich is how is name it. it was stupid on me but… semantics….

Thanks Juan.. I apreciate your patience and effort. I’m shure some of the forum will save time with this clarify.

    best regards

Thanks Joseph for the info, unfurtunatelly I followed every step but one in particular is a mistery:

one of the ways to do the process is directly in the node’s window. Juan Salvo says if you right click on a new serial node it will show a contextual submenu with the “add as matte” option. Niether me or other guys (you can check the vimeo page’s comments) have this option in this contextual submenu. I don’t know why. There is no way I can make it appear to apply the composite effect.

    any sugestions?

  • Hey buddy, my advice:

finish your video + audio exact time IN-OUT (FCP, PREMIERE, ETC)

conform a mpg2 file in compressor (video bit rate 27 max!!! no more , and audio separated either ac3 or uncompressed)

feed up the encore, with those files. burn it directly.

files from compressor are by far better than authoring prog. keep in mind the Encore won’t reformat or change your video if this is native mpg2 (m2v) from compressor. So the same quality is there. Don’t make a H264 file ‘cos most blu ray players will drop frames. I guarantee it.
mpg2 will give big fat file with better playback vs h264. I dropped a lot of blu ray disc doing exhaustive test for my short film going to cannes, sundance, etc.

    best regards.
