And it’s tough to compare your show to the previous/post shows you saw. What was the network? Were they in HD (Downconverted to cable or sat)? Those shows may have been posted in HD, compared to your full analog BetaSP workflow.

Your question is a bit confusing? What are you asking? HMI lights are daylight balanced (most of the time, slightly above daylight temp.) If you are using ungelled HMI’s with a green screen, your key and fill lights just need to be balanced to match them. If everything is balanced color temp-wise, then you’re good to go.
Shooting on DVCProHD is just a a format, like HDCAM, BetaSP etc, that doesn’t make any difference. The only thing to concern you is, is every thing matched correctly… Camera color balanced to the lights, the ratio of source to the background, all the lights color balanced equally etc.
Are you asking something else?

I run 3 internal eSATA drives as an internal RAID. Works perfect, nothing else needed. (You can also run 4 if you get a wiring kit to add the 4th in one of the optical bays.)
Consider a good RAID software like Softraid.

You have to purchase the full version of Flip4Mac. The entry level version only does the first :30 sec. Not sure the lip-sync issue.

I am finishing in FCP. It’s a very simple soundtrack V/O and a music bed. Couldn’t be simplier. It sounds great in FCP. (I have a very high-end audio system (VTL Tube amps, Tannoy DMT-12″ pro studio monitors)
I even checked the MPEG 2 file after Compressor and it sounds fine. Not sure what the heck the kids at Comcast are hearing that they say it sounds compressed?
Do you guys change any of the Compressor settings when encoding for MPG2 Program Stream?
I’m baffled.

Not sure why it doesn’t work, but when you get it working, the best tip I’ve gotten is to make the clip you want to fix stand-alone. If you don’t, SmoothCam goes back the original file (which could be really long) and analyzes the entire file, not just your edited portion. So, export the clip and re-import it. It will be mucho faster!

I too would like a portable P2 recorder that is small and easy to mount on the camera. But, connections are still the biggest issue. The firewire jack bites. That’s what’s keeping me from buying a Firestore. Now, if they could make it work off HD-SDI with BNC jacks, that’s much more dependable.

I don’t think there are any audio formats being converted, they are all 48K. But, what’s really weird is even if I make the timeline into a stand-alone self-contained movie (Which plays in perfect sync) that shouldn’t matter.
And like I mentioned, if I make the MPG4 directly from the timeline using QT conversion, no sync issues, but the video has unacceptable compression artifacts. The Compressor video is much cleaner. Aarrrgh.
