Are you talking about real 3D text or 2D text in 3D space? And could you give more details about the animation itself. How will the text pass through the paper?

I didn’t even notice that before but you’re right. Maybe that project was made in Australia where the earth and the water in your toilet spin the other way.

I’m assuming that by “ae 4” you mean that you’ve upgraded to AE CS4. As far as I know, the codecs, etc. should all be installed when you install the creative suite application. Do you have the suite with Encore, Premiere, etc. or just After Effects by itself? You might check with Adobe and see if the Blu-Ray output is only included with the suite. I don’t really know. Sorry.

This is where the blu-ray setting should be:

These are the settings that I normally use:

I’m not sure about earlier versions of AE but if you’re on CS3 or higher you will have an HD MPEG2 Blu-Ray output preset. You can find this in the Output Module Settings under the Format drop-down menu. Select “MPEG2 Blu-ray”. Then under Video Output click the Format Options button and adjust your data rate to meet your clients specs.

    -E

  • Also, be sure you have these settings selected in your Output Module Settings:

    Channels: “RGB + Alpha”
    Depth: “Millions of Colors+”

“U” shows all keyframes for selected layers. “UU” shows all changed parameters including keyframes for selected layers.

For the first part of your question, I believe you should be able to just add -540 to the end of the expression so it reads: thisComp.layer(“Light Gray Solid 2”).effect(“Shatter”)(“Y Rotation”)-540

For the shatter effect check out this tutorial from Andrew Kramer

Adam, Just create the first three keyframes and then enter this expression, which will repeat the animation:

    loopOut(Type=”cycle”)

    -E

I don’t know of any way to overwrite an existing file automatically but you can do it manually.

Add the composition to the render queue and click on the filename in the output module and delete the “_1, _2, etc.” from the filename (or just click on the existing file in the browser window).

A dialogue will pop up asking if you want to overwrite the existing file. Just click “yes” and then render.
