  • Exporting Graphics with Transparent Backgrounds from AE to Final Cut

    Hello,

I’m trying to make motion name keys in AE CS4 and bring them into FCP. The graphics that I built in Photoshop were done with transparent backgrounds and I set the Background to transparent in AE but when I export with Make Movie and bring it into FCP the background is black. What I would really like to do is be able to make rendered files with transparent backgrounds that I can easily place on my sequence in FCP. Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers,

In AE, render to a QT codec (such as Animation) that supports alpha channels. Render with “straight alpha” — it’s a good habit to get into in case you need to give files to other editors more often.

Also, be sure you have these settings selected in your Output Module Settings:

    Channels: “RGB + Alpha”
    Depth: “Millions of Colors+”
