Hi Tad, I’m not sure what the issue could be but if you can upload one of the project files (no assets) maybe myself or someone else could try to open it and see if at least the comps and missing footage placeholders are there. Then you would know if it’s the project files that are corrupted or something with your system or software. However, I would suggest re-posting this in a fresh thread because only the people on this thread will see this.

That’s great, I’m glad it helped, thanks for the reply!

It appears that the preference options are a little different now in CS6. Did you just uncheck “Use Graphics Processor” or did you go into the “Advanced Settings” to get yours to work?

I’m not sure exactly how the open GL or openCL work but I found a thread with some links to info about it if you’re interested:

Here’s something Todd Kopriva posted a while back that may help as well:

    Adobe TV
    https://tv.adobe.com/product/after-effects/

There’s another book that I recommend:
    https://help.adobe.com/en_US/aftereffects/cs/using/

If you read that document from beginning to end and follow the links in it, you’ll know more than just about anyone about After Effects. It has links to hundreds of tutorials that I have personally vetted as being of the highest quality, and those links appear in context.

If you ask Chris & Trish Meyer or Mark Christiansen where they get their information, I promise you that they will tell you that they go to After Effects Help first. Most of it is written by Mark’s technical editor (me).

When you copy/paste layers they will paste in the order you selected them, first one on top.

Not sure what you mean about grouping compositions.

Not sure why that would be happening but maybe try rendering as a quicktime animation instead?

December 27, 2013 at 1:51 am in reply to: Scaling a mask as rotating and adding keyframes

If I understand your question, you want to expand the mask properties and add a keyframe for the mask path. Move forward in time to where you want the second keyframe, then with the mask selected hit Ctrl/Cmd + T to enter transform mode and then you can grab the transform handles and scale and rotate the mask. Hold Shift to scale uniformly, Ctrl/Cmd to scale from the center. You can also transform 2 or more vertices instead of the whole mask, just select the points and hit Ctrl/Cmd + T.

You could also animate the mask expansion property as George mentioned above.

The only thing I can think of is you may have had the project window or info palette or some other window selected when you were trying to use the snapshot function. Select the timeline or comp viewer window and try to take a snapshot.
