  • Oh Yeah!!! I put it in my basket on Amazon a few months ago and checked it last night and HELLO! I hate it when that happens. Have you seen this monitor up close and personal?

    Thank You!

I made a new preset for in compressor. QT 16×9 and that worked pretty well. Im sending a test clip to them to see if they can import it. It was pretty quick in the conversion of a 30 sec. clip so I hope a batch of several wouldn’t take to long to do.

    Thanks all for the suggestions.

I looked it up and Adobe will import DV-AVI (AVI) and QuickTime (MOV). Any suggestions on settings? I looked under Quicktime/uncompressed. Not real sure about this.

Thanks for the help. They use
premiere on a PC. Will compressor do a batch of a bunch of clips so I can run it while I sleep?

I tried a batch export and that seems to work. My settings are DV stream 16×9. I would put in a DV sequence and export but then that would be one big clip. I wanted to get smaller clips so they can bring them in to edit

  • If the Pro Res files captured via firewire go offline I’m certain you can simply recapture the clips and restore your project.

I tested this this morning and was not able to re-batch the clips I brought in as HDV to prores over firewire. I deleted the media from the capture scratch and opened FCP media missing warning came up. continued. Right clicked on clip and selected batch capture and the camera didn’t cue up to the clips timecode. It was ready to capture a new clip with a new name. This is what I worry about with this procedure. If anyone knows a workaround for this I sure would like to know it.

  • It seems that my lame graphics card was giving me all these problems. I installed a NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra today and now for whatever reason the camera now works with firewire and kona inputs for DVCPROHD log and capture. This is just plain weird. I had a X800 that died and had to put my old stock 9600 xt back in. the newish card came in today. I was getting dropped frames during playback if the camera was plugged in and on, so thats got to be related somehow. Anyway for now it looks like i’m back in bizz. Thanks for al the intrest in helping me out.

  • What??? You said that once before Erik and I asked where you got that idea, but you never responded.

Im sorry David but I didnt read a question in your post.

If I do take the whole tape in without using log and capture and the media gets zapped how would I be able to batch it back and relink it to my sequences without having to start over again?? Are you saying thier is a way to do this? I would love to know how if you could point me in the right direction.

I used the method in the tutorial here on the cow ” Capture HDV to ProRes in FCP? Over FireWire?”

  • Thanks for the info. I think I need to reevaluate my work flow. At my day job I use Avid with standard def only. My home studio is Final Cut. I am not as savvy with Final Cut yet but getting better and to honest the HD thing is giving me a headache. When I finally come to a solid work flow with HDV I know it will be much easier just not their yet.

  • I want to do log and capture. Mainly for safety reasons. If my drive dies then I will be able to rebiuld the project and relink the video to my sequence. Batching the whole tape in HDV to prores wont give me that option. Final Cut wont log and capture HDV to Prores. I am working on a training DVD series that has several hours of HDV. If the only way to achieve my goal is to log and capture in HDV and render in prores then I will go that way.

    Thanks.

    Erik
