Nope. No sarcasm at all. I don’t know where you got that from but I hope you fell better now.

I seriously think that a shortcut on the desktop is a great idea, if it works correctly and doesn’t mess with media management.

    Huzah!
That could be THE timesaver of the century(er, new millenium!). I may try this for all my current projects. Then delete the shortcut when the project is finished. Hmmm…possibilties.

Or, Adobe could just pull their heads out and let users copy and paste transitions and provide a “well” to drop gradients. Maybe even save transition presets if we are lucky.

I am however holding my last breath for Apple and FCP to pull something out at the last minute that can compete with CUDA and Adobe integration. Not holding my breath as you can see, I am starting all my latest edits on PPro and I must say that stacking Illustrator files on the timeline and then sending them to AE is just. freaking. sweet.

Soundbooth could use a better noise reduction as well but seems to work better than STPro as far as crashing goes.

    Oh thanks for the hint!

Another workaround after trashing prefs did not work. Uninstall and reinstall Boris BCC Complete. Everything back to normal for the time being.

I found a workaround for this. I need to resize the effects window every time I use a transition. That seems to fix it.

I do have the ATI 4870 video card in my MacPro. The MacPro is the 1.1 version that supposedly does NOT support this video card. But this is new behavior since updating the latest security fix from Apple.

There is no one doing anything wrong per say. The AJA drivers just need a fix is all.

I should add that I am on the latest drivers and all that jazz. I have been having problems withh ALL of my macs for the last few months. Corrupt projects, display issues, freezing crashing etc…People in the know, know that there are fixes coming our way…

I am the admin. I am the only one flying this pig.

I would like my system to be setup like this: when doing roughs, FCP plays back on the Desktop LCD monitor and have the Broadcast monitor as an extended desktop for viewing the script(saves a tree). It is just not possible to do this. The AJA drivers are bugged.
Then when I am good with script changes, turn on View External and set up AJA to the desired refresh/size. Well, AJA toggles between 525 and 720 or 1080, whatever you don’t want, the AJA will do. Isn’t it great! The NDD drivers work OK if not using the desktop and FCP.

7.5 drivers are quite buggy for my usage. I am waiting on a fix for these things in particular:
    1. AJA Control panel resets to default 525 settings almost every time I restart or open the AJA Control panel.
    2. MacDesktop does NOT work while FCP is open. I use this for viewing scripts while I work. The playback in FCP stutters unbearably and my Sony broadcast monitor stripes the screen in time to FCP stutters. Could be a setting I have wrong, but there is only one button to push for this option.

These are known issues that have been going on for some time. I will discontinue the use of the Desktop drivers…again…

Yep, my last DVD the titles (made with the Boris titler) looked pretty poor! No/low paying job and the client was ecstatic that there were titles and chapter markers for skipping around on the DVD!

‘Allow Job segmenting’ is selected in the Encoder tab.
I am using a virtual cluster set up from the Qmaster prefs. This is on one machine.

I am compressing a reference DV movie (NOT self contained). I am now exporting the file self-contained and will try that out. It is only one movie that is hanging things up. The other 7 movies rendered out fine. There are NO effects on the footage.

Jeremy may have a solution to the madness?

Why yes I am compressing XDCAM EX footage sometimes. This particular time I am compressing some DV material to H264.
