Is there a way to have Premiere Pro CS5 look for a default graphics folder for Gradient Wipe as well as for other effects? Every time I use the Grad Wipe I have to drill down to get the same image for this particular project. I want to keep specific graphics with the project as well.

Maybe make a shortcut to the path of the file and place that in the Media Folder or on the desktop, somewhere you can get to in a couple of clicks?

    Huzah!
That could be THE timesaver of the century(er, new millenium!). I may try this for all my current projects. Then delete the shortcut when the project is finished. Hmmm…possibilties.

Or, Adobe could just pull their heads out and let users copy and paste transitions and provide a “well” to drop gradients. Maybe even save transition presets if we are lucky.

I am however holding my last breath for Apple and FCP to pull something out at the last minute that can compete with CUDA and Adobe integration. Not holding my breath as you can see, I am starting all my latest edits on PPro and I must say that stacking Illustrator files on the timeline and then sending them to AE is just. freaking. sweet.

Soundbooth could use a better noise reduction as well but seems to work better than STPro as far as crashing goes.

    Oh thanks for the hint!

    Erick…

I’m not sure if sarcasm was intended or not. If so, wow….thanks for the can of whoop ass. I was really hungry this morning. 😉

I really wasn’t trying to be a smart ass.

You mentioned that it was common. So I’m thinking part of a library that was common across many projects and then not necessarily something that you’d delete at the end of a project.

You also mentioned lots of repetitive clicks to get to the same location.

This was not meant as some an implication that you don’t know your way around your respective OS.

Sometimes, people, myself included, don’t consider the OS level solutions to problems and look for applications specific things.

I hope Adobe listens to your requests and that you achieve the smoothness in your workflow that you desire.

Nope. No sarcasm at all. I don’t know where you got that from but I hope you fell better now.

I seriously think that a shortcut on the desktop is a great idea, if it works correctly and doesn’t mess with media management.

Wasn’t paying attention yesterday when you said you were on mac.

I routinely add short cuts to “places” on the Mac so I can get to drilled down folders quickly from any finder window or file dialog….

    huge time saver….

    Does not work on Mac.
Sadly the gradient wipe transition will not open an aliased folder. All I see is a grayed out folder.

    Back to the original question.

Is there a place where the default gradient is stored in Premiere Pro CS5? If so where is it? Can I replace it with my own? Can I make a default folder with my own gradients to choose from?

I brought my project to another computer.
Why didn’t premiere prompt me for the missing gradient as used in the gradient wipe transition?(the gradient was placed in a folder on the desktop so I didn’t have to execute an extra 7 clicks to bring it into the “custom” well in the gradient wipe transition well). Whew!

Am I developing a new editing style by thinking that I should be able to save custom transitions along with their files?

If I media manage a Premiere Pro project, will the graphics come with it?
