I don’t think so… Most Blackmagic products are (or where at least) using software-based scaling before which give me the shivers seing how good the Kona LHe performs compared to software’s like Final Cut, Motion and After Effects.

    Can’t agree more David.

It would also be terrific to be able to down-convert with-out output as well (i.e down-conversion on one system to the same system)

I’ve had this problem on some systems as well but in PAL. I get frame 1 ok, frame 2 is frame 3 and frame 3 is frame 1 again and then comes frame 4 (sorta). One frame is missing and you get a “jiggy jump” to it.

One solution has been to “clear all caches” before rendering. It also seems the type of imput-file can be an issue. I had the issue with a number of QuickTime/Animation files. Converting them to 10-bit Uncompressed made the problem go away.

I don’t know if this is a QT or AE problem, but the abnormallity of “framejumping” only reflects in AE. I’ve seen it happen through Nucleo also in AE (actually more frequence than though AE it self).

The Kona-card will not convert 16×9 Anamorphic SD material to 16×9 Letterbox SD. It’s a feature I really, really wish was there though.

When editing HD you have the option of converting it to SD Anamorphic, Letterboxed och center-cropped.

I’d love to see this feature as well. Video out through DVDSP would “rock” simply put. Yes you can burn the discs, but that’s a hassle and I don’t have a DVD-player connected to my SDI-monitor.

Converting DVD/MPEG2 back to editable video isn’t a solution at all.

We’ve set edits via EDL and OMF from FCP 5.0x to AVID X (Sympony, DS etc) with quite varied results. Sometimes things just don’t work. We re-export everything and it works fine. We haven’t had any sync-issues though to either ProTools or AVID’s.

    We’ve always used CMX3600 I think it’s called though.

My recommendation to speed up things is to get a G5.

OpenGL acceleration in AE works for me for simpler pre-viz visualisation but quite quickly gets to the point where it’s not usable. And this is on a Quad G5 with a GeForce 7800 GT.

  • The background “light rays” could just be a quite simpel particle effekt. Motion or simliary apps could fix that I reckon.

Then on the text you just have a lensflare, some blur and glow
